That's all well and good, guys, but what does any of this have to do with energy?

Well...more than you'd think...?

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('TheDude', 'T')hat's all well and good, guys, but what does any of this have to do with energy?

Not much. Neither does this one from the land down under.

Tan me hide when I'm dead, Fred
Tan me hide when I'm dead
So we tanned his hide when he died, Clyde
And that's it hangin' on the shed

But actually, that chart of rock music and oil production is pretty clever. Probably something to it, sort of in line with Catton's thesis of The Age Of Exuberance. '67 & '68 were golden years for music. By '69 & '70 it was Charlie Manson and hopeless souls drifting into Haight Ashbury, burned out hippies getting lost in Oaxaca and eating mushrooms, rock stars dropping like flies, and music that was deliberately bad and artless. That Russian Roulette stuff with Christopher Walken in The Deer Hunter expressed it pretty well.

So, I'm down in not so sunny Florida for about 2 months for work and I've got my rental car tuned to some "classic rock" station. This song, heard yesterday, reminded me of all the race talk recently Dirty White Boy. Classic ? Oh well. And then, today on the drive home, I hear Rock and Roll All Night and the thing is I just heard it 2 days ago and I'm only listening on the to/from work drives. I guess that's one of the real classics. I actually appreciate KISS more now than when I was in the 70's. Probably because Gene Simmons is an interesting fellow.

And, throwing this in after reading the mouse in the stash thread

Rat in the Kitchen. I had a housemate in college who's nickname was rat. Ken the rat. What a great name  Rat wasn't a good thing to be called in the old neighborhood. Anyway we used to sing this when he was making dinner.

this one made a big impression. So who was this Mr. Jones? Listen close and note the homoerotic tones. But it was 1964 and nobody had a clue.

Got my tix to see Elvis at the local bar! Elvis Perkins, that is.

Doomsday

edit: The concert was great. They played an extended medley for the encore, culminating with the song above. The openening band joined them on the stage which was about as big as my porch. About 15 guys and girls playing everything from steel slide guitar to Tuba. While you were sleeping. When he asked the crowd for requests, there were shouts of DOOMSday - he said 'relax, your Doomsday will come soon enough".

The opening band was great too The Woes

The best is yet to come

Both good doomer bands!

Sisters Of Mercy My old ex-father-in-law who sang Ave Maria at my wedding misunderstood this song because he only heard the title, not the song. If he had heard the song, his antipathy would have been tempered by its tenderness. My son loved him. He took us out to the firing range in the back country. May he rest in peace. Mary Magdalene was a whore, but she was redeemed by the love of Jesus.

Crying In The Chapel Elvis had his sensitive side, but along came Ann Margaret. A hot number that ripped his resolve to shreds. To quote that fellow who toured with him in the early days, "you broke my will, but what a thrill, goodness gracious great balls of fire!" That's Jerry Lee Lewis of course.
