The problem is, of course, that not only is economics bankrupt, but it has always been nothing more than politics in disguise... economics is a form of brain damage.

Nonsense VM. Every culture has it's beauty and grace. I'm sick of people raggin' on their own.
We're NOT pathetic. Carnival, comes to Brazil by way of Europe.

Happy Mardi Gras VM!
Bon chance!

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('dinopello', '[')url=http://www.lordofthedance.com]LORD of the DANCE![/url]

I know that guy, he's fond of telling people he's from Ireland when in reality he's from "Orland" as in Orland Park, IL a suburb of Chicago, don't ya know. (if you say "Orland" as certain way it sounds like Ireland with a brogue).

I know you have that lord of the dance, but here's the original!
http://dances.mayukhi.com/nataraja.html

From the wikepedia article

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', 'T')he two most common forms of Lord Shiva's dance are the Lasya (the gentle form of dance), associated with the creation of the world, and the Tandava (the violent and dangerous dance), associated with the destruction of the world. In essence, the Lasya and the Tandava are just two aspects of Shiva's nature; for he destroys in order to create, tearing down to build again[3].

I think Lord Shiva has started the Tandava on Wall Street and will continue the dance towards the Treasury and Fed.

Starting to look that way, shudder. The Destroyer/Transformer. A paradox. Transformation sounds difficult but hopeful, destruction just sounds bad.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('Aaron', 'T')his is how you do a parade...

http://www.boston.com/bigpicture/2009/02/carnival.html

That's all very impressive, but I had a ball at our local Mardi Gras parade last night. The entry fee for floats is $30 which is used to pay for the police support and everything else is volunteer. The floats are sometimes shabby but that's part of the fun. My pictures suck, BTW...

I followed this Bolivian dancer for a block or two trying to get a good picture (this doesn't do her justice)
Image

Most eclectic float was the Life-Sized Finger Puppet studio float

And their collection of celebrity finger puppets (Palin here with the golden moose)

I thought the best looking float was this Bourbon Street house-float

and a close-up of the detailing
