I never liked the 22nd amendment.

If the founding fathers thought that a President taking more than two terms would be an abuse of power, they would have written it into the constitution in the first place. The practice of taking accepting only two terms in office was only violated once, by FDR in 1940 and 1944. He won both elections by a landslide. People liked him.

If a President manages to stay popular throughout his entire 8 year career, it must mean he is doing something right, no?

Eisenhower was a competent leader and deserved a third term...he didn't get one thanks to the 22nd amendment.

Bush was incompetent and didn't deserve either his first or his second term. But he would never have won re-election after his disastrous second term.

The American people should have the freedom to keep the winners like Eisenhower and ditch the losers like Bush.

The Supreme Court just unilaterally invalidated the fourth amendment. Really the whole thing is becoming farcical. We should just admit we're a totalitarianism and get it out of the way. This slow crumbling business is becoming tiresome.

Democrats have some bizarre notions about FDR as some sort of a savior, but it was because of FDR that America was in a Depression as long as it had. It was only after FDR died that America was able to get out of it's Depression. Most Americans have no real understanding of their own history.

The man has accomplished absolutely nothing in government yet and the US is treating him like the second coming. The level of disappointment is going to be huge, and we know what happened the first time a saviour disappointed his followers.

As for the Japanese internment during world war two, that was a serious violation of civil rights but was not directly linked to FDR's third term.

If Wendell Willkie had won the election in 1940, who knows how he would have handled the war and its domestic impacts. He might have felt that interning the Japanese was a good idea.

That should hold to for all elected politicians, at least a "drying out" period.
No one has any business being in elected office for 20, 30 and 40 plus years.
