International High IQ Society

Ok, we've seen these kinds of threads here before. But I just stumbled upon this new site. So I took the test and, aywalla, I found out I'm nearly as smart as my dog thinks I am.

Now, we've all seen the IQ numbers on past PeakOil.com threads steadily ratchet upwards as the IQ thread grows in number of posts. But, as you can see, I am already in the top 5% of the population. So if we see the same kind of suspicious oneupsmanship occuring as the IQ claims progress, we can be certain that many posters are bullshitting about their intelligence OR that PeakOil.com attracts only the 5% most intelligent people. Hmmm...

BTW, I'm good-looking too AND I've got a very... (well, nevermind that).

I have found that far from being an asset, declaring your IQ has more of a stiffling effect on creativity and learning new things. I may have a high IQ, but I totally reserve the right to fuck up just as badly as the next moron.

I think the whole idea of "IQ" should be eliminated from the common lexicon. The only thing IQ tests accomplish is to give bragging rights to a select few, while it crushes the confidence of the many. There is absolutely nothing worse for morale than the knowledge that some people are "gifted" while others are stuck on the bad side of the bell curve for life, with nothing to be done about it.

If there really was a God out there (of course there isn't one, just speaking hypothetically here), I'd have some serious words with Him about how much of a colossal f*ck-up He is for creating such an unequal distribution in humanity. I tell you what, if I could be a Supreme Being even for 30 seconds, I'd zap the entire race and make everyone *exactly equal* in intelligence, and then let the world go about its business...LOL.

It might not solve all problems, but it'd at least make things a bit more fair for the majority of us.

I've randomly answered the questions twice, and got 95 and 104. Is that how average 100 for the populace was created?

A friend of mine did the same thing. He got 102.

So, even though the creators of this test kind of hype their method, I don't see how it has any validity if random responses get you an average score.

I got most of my friends to take IQ tests like this, and I use our relative IQ as the tie breaker whenever we reach an impasse in any discussion or argument (when it's in my favor).

Mine has always tested between 134 and 136 on tests like this.

Where I work however, I am definitely not in the top 5% of the population. I literally work with at least 1,000 engineers and some scientists, who are all very sharp.

I'm only slightly more intelligent than an ape according to this IQ test and damn I feel like it too.

You know I would find it interesting to see if there is a correlation between high intelligence and 'doomerism'. I have heard intelligent people are more pessimistic than the population at large.

Finally a chance for a Red Dwarf quote.
$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', 'C')AT, You dying is the last think we want, especially me. Hell,
I'd probably have to help dig the hole.

RIMMER
Right, so to summarise: six years of space adventuring, six years of
experience and knowledge, has led you to the conclusion that I'm totally stuffed?

KRYTEN
Mister Rimmer has a point, sir. Your greater knowledge is making you pessimistic, while his ignorance and almost doe-like naivety is keeping his mind receptive to a possible solution.

LISTER
Shut your stupid, flat head, you.

[KRYTEN shrinks under LISTER's admonition, but KOCHANSKI has picked up on something, and sounds intrigued]

KOCHANSKI
So, you're saying, when you don't know enough... to *know* that you don't know enough, there's no fear holding you back? You can achieve things which people with more brains can't?

KRYTEN
Precisely.

[KOCHANSKI smirks in RIMMER's direction]

KOCHANSKI
He's got the 'power of ignorance'...

KRYTEN
And with ignorance that he's got, that makes him one of the most powerful men that's ever lived!
Harness your stupidity, sir; employ your witlessness, use your
empty-headed, simplistic moron-mind and find a solution.

What's my IQ If I'm smart enough to see just another internet scam luring losers into feeling good about themselves?

Anyone?? Bueller??? Bueller???

I'm not too sure about that. I usually score around a comfortable 70 to 80 which is an accurate reflection of my [s]innate[/s]* problem solving abilities.

I understand if you ace this online 36 question quiz, you will be accepted into the University of Phoenix.

Is this true?

The tautology which explains this quandary is that it tests what it tests, and that's it. If you have a different ability outside the test area, obviously it isn't covered. Some of my friends are Navajo, and he/she/they don't test as high on these tests as my white ass. But they are actually quite a bit smarter than me in many ways. Sometimes embarrassingly so. Don't rely on this test for anything, seriously. Or you may get embarrassed by a Navajo. :-P

No, no, no! ...the test was for your brain, not your ass!

Is your avatar you're real picture, Jotapay? What kind of score does your ass usually get? I bet it's pretty high.

If you get them all right you only score 176.
If you get them all wrong you get 102
