$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('Tyler_JC', 'D')id anyone look at the data from that website?

It only goes back to 2001!

They are comparing this recession to the 2001 recession.

Anyone with half a brain knows that this recession will be worse than the 2001 recession so this isn't news.

It's actually a continuation of the 2001 recession. If they didn't make money so cheap to try to halt that recession, we would be in depression already. All they did was buy more time and pumped it up and cashed out before the final collapse.

Very good point. It is the only reason i can think of for setting targets that anybody with half a brain knows will fail .

Fine, but that doesn't change the fact that the original website is useless because its data is too shallow.

I could make the case that the DJIA will hit zero by 2010 because it fell 7,000 points between October 2007 and October 2008. Surely it will fall another 9,000 points in the next two years, right?

It's this kind of narrow thinking that discredits much of the Uber Doom websites.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('ReverseEngineer', '')$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('yesplease', 'O')nly time will tell in that aspect.
Since only time will tell here, let us make a bet on time. I bet you $100 Toyota is insolvent and looking for a handout from the Jap Goobermint inside of one year. Take the bet?

That's a sucker's bet.

By bailing out its automakers, America opens the door for foreign companies to invest in their own car manufacturers in retaliation.

It's a trade war.

It doesn't mean Toyota is insolvent, it just means that Japan doesn't trust America to play by the rules (and they shouldn't!)

Even if toyota or some other car maker bought GM it is no sign of jobs. Bud Beer was just bought and guess what closed the St louis plant. And just FYI. St Louis is the home of bud. If they buy and close we are in no better shape either so which is worse the gov bails them out and worse comes to worse they go belly up and liquidate, the money from the sale still stays here in the U.S. But if bought by forign interest and then liquidated the money goes to wherever. Now i May be wrong but that is my perspective.

Insolvent would mean their liabilities are greater than their assets. In this case it would mean they would look to the Jap Goobermint to bail them out, similar to what we are doing with every industry in Amerika.

Somewhere I'm sure. I don't think in a year you will need a balance sheet though to know what their financial situation is. LOL. Good grief, if Volvo and Daimler-Benz are in trouble, what on earth makes you thinks the Jap automakers can sell any cars either in this spin down? They might be a little more flush with cash at the moment, but they aren't selling any cars either. No sell-um da cars, no make-a-da money. In Japan or anywhere else.

You're sure? Just like you're sure they were already losing money like the big three? If ya wanna bet that's fine, but pick something you can find.

Volvo is in trouble because it's owned by Ford, and Mercedes had the bad (dumb?) luck to buy into Chrysler. There ain't any mystery in those two cases.
$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('ReverseEngineer', 'T')hey might be a little more flush with cash at the moment, but they aren't selling any cars either. No sell-um da cars, no make-a-da money. In Japan or anywhere else.

What's w/ you and using incorrect information? Toyota's sales have dropped, just like those of everyone else, but unlike everyone else they didn't take as large of a hit when gas prices were high and aren't taking as large of a hit currently as two of the big three are. Ford isn't doing too bad, but they also didn't fall as far because they weren't doing as well as Toyota was.
