Well, the Chicago Spire building is still in the "pits"...lol...currently it's just a hole in the ground, we're waiting for the developer to pay Santiago Calatrava, the architect, millions for his plans.

Here's the link
to this story. (Looks like a giant drillbit fell out of the sky, IMO).

DH says this..(he's worked on bidding for for the booster systems for the water and some of the HVAC for his company, he's very familiar with the plans)..."Maybe it could work because it's all residential, for the ultra-rich and even during the great depression, there were ultra-rich as they consolidated depreciated capitol."

It will certainly be the tallest building period, in the U.S., if it does get built, the next tallest building is the Sears Tower, which is also in Chicago. We here in Chicago, have the largest conglomeration of skyscrapers in one city anywhere in the world, but maybe Dubai is catching up...

Since the beginning New York was always in construction. It would be very strange to imagine it as any kind of a stable place.

It could turn into a Rome, where the population shrunk from a million to around 40,000 over many centuries. I don't think they built any new buildings after they got sacked.
Deep in the mud and slime of things, even there, something sings.
