$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', 'H')ow about R&R concerts. For $20 I can watch Mick Jagger from 10ft away while sporting a one-hitter. Need a brew? Just hit the pause button.........
I actually have high end audio video equipment ,which is what most audiophiles would call midfi, and can honestly say that if you like a band the experience of actually being at a concert is like nothing else.
In fact 2004 is when I discovered peakoil,at the time I thought if energy runs out I might as well see my favorite band. Peakoil was instrumental in my decision to see the Corrs live.
In 2004 I actually saw the
Corrs live in Hollywood at Kodak theater(where I paid $65 for a ticket) and at Jones Beach New York (where I paid $200 for two tickets but paid $300 for the plane flight).
I have to say that both concerts were very impressive. Seeing a band live can be such an intense experience if you're a die hard fan. I was completely overwhelmed when I saw the Corrs in Hollywood.
Jones Beach was an even more astounding experience, I was in sixth row and when the band came on stage I was screaming so loud that a band member actually looked right at me. Then as the concert progressed I was able to make way to the stage and throw flowers onstage.
For most rational people I would agree that a $30 BLU RAY and a high end A/V system is probably a reasonable substitute. If you're die hard fan however nothing compares to seeing you're favorite band live and close up.
