')Not a good model. Switzerland has a population of 7.2M, compared to 350M in the US. The population of Switzerland is highly homgenous, the population of just NYC with 8M is highly diverse. The geographic space Switzerland covers is about 16K sq miles, the geographic space of the US is around 3.5M sq miles.

Then comes food shortages and riots in cities. Crime explodes. In some places, anarchy will prevail.

The public, at that point, will be begging for troops to be deployed -- begging for martial law. Gun confiscations will begin.
