I'm done with this board. Adios.

My final advice to y'all: Stop posting and start prepping. Every minute posting on this site is a minute wasted. Prep or post. Your choice.

Yeah I'm sitting in the middle of civilisation surrounded by surburbia packed full of people. Nice one.

I thought we had already determined that prepping is pretty futile. Everyone will just be swept along in the tide of muck when SHTF. Everyone will want a piece of your preps then. There are just too many JUST TOO MANY of us bipedal apes and the government will have plans probably.

Course one could always go and live with the kalihari bushmen.

I'm fully prepped in that area in my opinion. I don't share my views on that because it's "disturbing" to others.

Take care. I like to see the developing story of everyone here, through the post they make. Some of your preparations were interesting, and I'm sure I gained a nugget or two of knowledge from your efforts. Thanks.

Its a shame to see people so polarized over politics, and worse to see it damage a community that has the potential to help people deal with the true ugliness on the horizon.

Vaya con dios!

Don't look back!

ETA: Prepping is building wealth, buying insurance, becoming self sufficient. What is posting?

The reason I've spent so much time on the Intertron for the last couple of years has been a trip back through school resulting in no money and not enough time. As the money comes back, I spend less time on the internet debating nonsense with shutins.

So, have fun Loki, don't look back.

Anxiety attack?

I don't know of any Supermen that can do it all by themselves. Gonna think of everything all by yourself? Gonna prioritize all those projects in the absence of outside opinion? Gonna maintain the notion that you are sane in a world of ignorance?

The forums do far more than act as a sounding board for wacko nutjob ideas, keeping up with the news and finding a good place for buying cast iron cookware. In here, you can keep you mind clear, stay focused, and interact with people holding similar beliefs. With the rest of the world barrelling along with no mention or knowledge of the problems we face, it is good to have a sanctuary to which to turn.

While we are in the early stages of the Transtition, establishing and maintaining the information networks which will give us a survival advantage is paramount. 5 tons of wheat offers calories but little comfort when only one dish at a time is prepared. A storm bunker with nobody to share it turns into a cell. What good is surviving when you face the new day alone?

kpeavy,

Right on target. This board and others have been invaluable sources of information and direction for me. I have learned an immense amount on many topics, and been freely given the benefit of knowledge that prevented making costly mistakes.

The net can be habit forming, and that can interfere with constructive work, IF YOU LET IT. Personal discipline is the key, knowing when to do what. To each his own.

Posting IS prepping. It keeps me in the mindset, and keeps me from feeling like a nutjob doomer.
For me preps come in phases, no point in doing a little here and there. and we all know its not cheap trying to get what you need to (stay home) for an extended time frame.

The food alone is thousands of dollars.
The trifuel generator was $900, not to mention the propane needed to run it for a while.
I am saving after x-mas for the BIG household supply shop. And I mean BIG I figure $1500 - $2000. ouch, But it needs to be done!

Those things take a while to save for and recover from. In between I read and post, and watch all the Peter Schiff vids I can get :)

:) Best of luck Lokie.

The wood pile is up with some to spare. The gardens are put to bed and the root cellar is full as is the freezer. The rifles are sighted in for hunting season with ammo aplenty and the shooters practised. The snow shovels stand at the ready.
Your nevah done but I can spare some time each day to see what you guys are up to. You can waste too much time here and it is a tremendous aid to procrastination.
I plan on eating some popcorn this winter as the Obamanation tries to get organized and solve some of the problems before us. It should be interesting viewing.
Come spring if the government is stimulating the economy by fixing roads I'll pick up a job to raise extra cash but until then I'm pretty much set and hunkerd down living on lack of expense.

Either or? Black or white? This or that? Attempting to determine how others live in RL is not your right.
This is a stressful time in our existence. There will be ups and downs that will, undoubtably, be unpleasant. Sharing experiences and personal perspectives can only be beneficial as each of us strives to do the best we can as things progress (or, digress).
We are still free to learn from each other what works and what does not. IMHO, we are a fortunate group of people to have the chance to compare problems and solutions; it is no surprise that many will suffer pangs of guilt when we recognise what will happen to others who are not prepared.
So pace yourselves in whatever way and on whatever time schedule works best for you and yours.

Sorry that you're leaving, Loki. I've enjoyed reading your posts and have learned a few things from you.

Personally, I'm still reading trough the older topics, so I can gain as much knowledge as possible. I'm still prepping little by little as time and money permits.

I've just finished loading the dehydrator with carrots that I peeled and steamed last night (they wouldn't all fit the first time). So, that's another 15 pounds to add to the stash... Well not 15 pounds anymore, but...

This site holds more information than some of my books. To me this site is even better than books because the information comes from personal experience or observations. And believe me I have a LOT of books. My biggest fault is that I love to learn, read, and reaserch...
