I'm aware that there are different types of oil that can be extracted and used for different things e.g Heavy oil for tar etc.

Can anyone provide me with a comprehensive list of what different types of oil there are and what it can be used for.

well there is baby oil... you rub that on babies


I am researching olive oil, and corn oil and palm oil etc next

Wikipedia has some info on the fractioning on oil. Heavy oil contains more stuff on the heavy side, light oil contains more on the light side.

Sweet means low sulphur, sour means high sulphur content. Sulphur has to be eliminated in refineries.
