$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('Roccland', '')$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('SILENTTODD', 'S')o Rocc, as fellow vet I take it you don't think Kid Rock would stand up too well to Basic Training?
I don't get it with guys my age...40-45 crowd (even older)...
Never served, but patriotic as all get out.
I think that is called "over compensation".
Reasons:
1) wanted to, but school, kids, wife
2) wanted to, but flat feet
3) wanted to, but bad back
4) wanted to, but...
I'd like to know who on this board served...and here is how it would go...
You either say you served...or you say nothing and it then is assumed you did not.
Really - what is happening to this country slays me...I did my time...may have been blinded...may have been stupid...but I did my time.
There are but a handful of civic duties:
1) give blood
2) vote
3) serve
4) volunteer
Not real hard, but the ass wipes on this board, in my neighborhood, and in my congress I know have not even given blood.
Oh, but they would be the first to grab a flag after 911.
Hey pops...you serve bro?
Good point. I will say, I tried to join the navy when I was younger--begged my parents. My mom, who had been in the navy, basically said "over my dead body"....she's nuttier than a fruitcake most of the time (still is), but I'm glad she did that.
I agree though, some of the biggest macho-male, flag-waving, fatter than fat, beer swilling idiots who have a copy of guns and ammo sitting in their bathroom to read during their repose on their throne NEVER served a day in their life.
That said, I vote, volunteer, participate in meals on wheels for my church, and when done breastfeeding, I'll give blood again.
So I guess 3 out of 4 isn't so bad.
