FWIW I was a reservist for 2 years in the Australian Army. It was good fun shooting the bang sticks and all but glad I never signed up properly.

Not in the military. During Vietnam, I was at Delco Electronics doing work on the Squad Radio (backpack), PRCII (Helmet Radio), and other things less publicized. Some good friends dead and some never the same again. Much credit is due to those who endured that, the politics notwithstanding.

When we pulled our Pearl Harbor attack on Iraq in '03, the woman of that household was all a-twitter.. "I can't help it!" she giggled.. "I just love watching war on TV.. but thank God my sons aren't in the military."

Since my sons WERE in the military... I described how she could roll G.W. Bush into a thin tube, coat him liberally with vaseline and insert him right between her ample arse-cheeks.

I've always felt that we, as a nation... should have a policy wherein anytime we have troops in combat situations for more than 30 days, it automatically triggers a 10% war surtax and commencement of universal military service.

That would end the chicken-sh*t and dangerous antics of Americans who enjoy a good war... as long as they and they family are on the sidelines eating popcorn.

I didn't watch it either, i can't stand his "music". Never served. I was pushed that way but always have made my own decisions in life. I have donated plasma probably 100 times (back in college). Gave away 2 old cars one time, they even ran...kind of.

The problem with "music" today is that there is NO money in it, or should i say there isn't money in the CD sales. If you look at the big money makers, say Justin Timberlake, its all in touring and advertising.

If kid ROck toured i doubt anyone would show up. He would have to give free concerts in the trailer park.

You guys really can't blame him, he is only doing it for MONEY. Just like almost everyone else. The guy would probably do anything for another line of coke or whatever his drug of choice is.

I actually TRIED to join right out of high school. I haad been flying for years and consider(ed) myself quite a solid pilot. The Navy had apparently passed a new mandate that would not guarantee you flight time unless you had a four year degree?

I remember laughing and telling the recruiter if I took the time to get a four year degree, I would just go on with my life.

I tried, nontheless...

I saw this ad spot during the coming attractions in a theater this last Friday night.

It was amazing.

After it was over, not a single person was left seated, and we were all saluting the screen, applauding and vociferously chanting "USA! USA!", while the ticket people began handing out miniature American flags to all members of the audience. Lee Greenwood then walked into the room and broke into an a capella solo of his "Proud to be an American," which brought tears to all our eyes.

Right afterward, several men in uniform came in and began passing out applications to join our local detachment of the national guard, and not one person refused to fill them out. I know, because I was so moved, I completed three applications myself. We received notice that the response was so great that basic training would begin right away, with a deployment to Iraq occurring sometime in late October.

I, for one, proudly salute the great efforts by American icons like Kid Rock to bring American-style democracy to the dark corners of the world. Even if he never puts on the uniform or makes a single sacrifice for his country, he is among the greatest heroes who have ever lived.

If Jesus is at the right hand of God, then surely Kid is at the left.

God bless Kid!

sadder still is that it could be worse. Kid Rock made disgusting rap music with classy titles such as "F*** you Blind" and lyrics like "I can shoot a nut 50 foot like a Super soaker" in the early 90s and when that became unprofitable/unfashionable/whatever switched to the trashy but apparently profitable rock music he does now

It's got almost everything, a rocking soundtrack, big explosions, Nascar heros, cool video tricks, but no girls.

The only thing that could have been added is "real life" war video of indigenous large breasted bikini clad girls running in slow motion towards the camera, embracing their new warrior liberators. Enrollment would shoot through the roof.

I watched about 30 seconds... That is by far the worst music video i have ever seen...ever... It almost seems like a joke or a spoof... like a "MadTV" skit... His "singing" is by far the worse ever..makes Britney sound good.

Rocc, went to enlist when I was 22 (had been living on the streets for five years). Lied to recruiter, said I'd never been arrested befrore (had extensive record). Sent to San Antonio to Armed Forces Enlistment Services and subsequent testing, etc. *qualified* yanked out of line a few days later for lie. Told to come back in four years after I'd had a steady job for that period of time. At that time I really, really wanted to go into the service for the stability it provided (but would have probably spent my time locked up). Now, I'm very grateful they didn't take me (although they probably would now without a second thought)
