As if things couldn't get worse, we are approaching a event horizon.

The 2008 Fall TV season starts.

Perfect distraction to slide a 700 billion dollar bailout in.

I'll hazard a guess: next comes Democrat stalling on the bail out bill. Then the 500 trillion+ default on derivatives. Then the Global Meltdown. The Democrat stalling bit was just a little gallows humor. Doesn't matter what they do.

I don't have to tell you things are bad. Everybody knows things are bad. It's a depression. Everybody's out of work or scared of losing their job. The dollar buys a nickel's work, banks are going bust, shopkeepers keep a gun under the counter. Punks are running wild in the street and there's nobody anywhere who seems to know what to do, and there's no end to it. We know the air is unfit to breathe and our food is unfit to eat, and we sit watching our TV's while some local newscaster tells us that today we had fifteen homicides and sixty-three violent crimes, as if that's the way it's supposed to be. We know things are bad - worse than bad. They're crazy. It's like everything everywhere is going crazy, so we don't go out anymore. We sit in the house, and slowly the world we are living in is getting smaller, and all we say is, 'Please, at least leave us alone in our living rooms. Let me have my toaster and my TV and my steel-belted radials and I won't say anything. Just leave us alone.' Well, I'm not gonna leave you alone. I want you to get mad! I don't want you to protest. I don't want you to riot - I don't want you to write to your congressman because I wouldn't know what to tell you to write. I don't know what to do about the depression and the inflation and the Russians and the crime in the street. All I know is that first you've got to get mad.

You've got to say, 'I'm a HUMAN BEING, Goddamnit! My life has VALUE!' So I want you to get up now. I want all of you to get up out of your chairs. I want you to get up right now and go to the window. Open it, and stick your head out, and yell,

'I'M AS MAD AS HELL, AND I'M NOT GOING TO TAKE THIS ANYMORE!' I want you to get up right now, sit up, go to your windows, open them and stick your head out and yell - 'I'm as mad as hell and I'm not going to take this anymore!' Things have got to change. But first, you've gotta get mad!... You've got to say, 'I'm as mad as hell, and I'm not going to take this anymore!' Then we'll figure out what to do about the depression and the inflation and the oil crisis. But first get up out of your chairs, open the window, stick your head out, and yell, and say it:

"I'M AS MAD AS HELL, AND I'M NOT GOING TO TAKE THIS ANYMORE!"

If, by having fun, you mean "Are you shitting pink twinkies?"

Then, yes, so far I've had some fun. But, I'm kind of like Tweak from Southpark and I really need to cut back on the coffee or at least go for decaff.

Who on the telescreen is going to pull a Howard Beale? Wolf Blitzer? Image

Maybe Olbermann will snap at some point. Directly challenge the viewer.

Hey, I posted to this thread last night & my post is gonnned - zilch.

Wierd, I only said some crap about how the futures markets were probably about to... hang on, I need to think about this.

Maybe I'll just go & pour a beer instead. Yep, that'll solve things. OK, I'll do that right now. Bye!

Edit: I really want to point out to anyone from outside reading this board that my name is Elmer. I have 3 sons, called (respectively) Elmer Jnr, Elmer Jnr Jnr, and Elmer Snr. See, I can't even do math! We farm turnips for a living. You want turnips, I talk turnips. I LIKE turnips. Do you like turnips? Good. I know nothing at all about complicated finaseal products (see, I can't even spell).

So what did I miss?

Is there something going on?

I thought everyone here knew things were afoot...
The legitimate object of government, is to do for a community of people, whatever they need to have done, but can not do, at all, or can not, so well do, for themselves -- in their separate, and individual capacities.

I'll wager a #10 can of Mountain House Spaghetti(with meat sauce) on Lou Dobbs.

When will we wakeup?

"Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return unto the LORD, and he will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon." (Isaiah 55:7)
