Would voting Republician be a good thing?

Unread postby Hawkcreek » Mon 25 Aug 2008, 16:27:58

I describe myself as a gun-loving liberal, but I find myself wanting to vote for McWhatshisname.

I believe that the system is going to implode very soon after the election, and I would rather it be totally obvious that it is mostly as the result of conservative policies over the last 8 years (actually beginning with Regan).

If Obama gets in, the crash will be touted as a "lack of confidence" and fear of the new liberal policies soon to be enacted.

Since I think it doesn't matter which of these assholes is in command (their only agenda is robbing the people), I might as well help place the blame on the conservative assholes.

Good idea????

I thought of that too. I'd vote for McAnus, because I hate him and the repugs, and it doesn't matter who's voted in, for we're f+u+c+k+e+d, so let's make sure it's FCKED real good by the repugs, get it over faster.

Then I thought about what a travesty that makes of democracy.

And I realize that the state we're in is utterly hopeless.

So I'm staying home instead.

If you'd prefer rapid die-off over a slow-crash, then 'vote' for McNasty (aka McSSSame McSSShame,McSSStupid). The radioactive glow following the neoconned (zionist) inspired attack(s) on Iran/Russia/N Korea/Syria (multiple choice) will 'do wonders' for the garden and thyroid.
If, OTOH, you'd rather 'blame it all' on 'a liberal darkey', then 'vote' for O'bsama. Makes no difference except to those who were vaporized or to a geiger counter.

But McCaine wants to drill drill drill. Obama wants to be God. Come to think of it, God could fill the old oil fields with abiotic oil. So what do you want, a few measly billion barrels or the Real Thing?

Why not vote for someone else? Is Ron Paul still in it?

Democracy is a sham anyway, i don't vote out of principal. Had the chance to for the first time about 4 years back here in the UK, I even walked passed the polling station. There's just no point. I'm thinking of protesting the next election. Heres some banner ideas:

"Your vote does NOT count"
"Vote blank for more bullshit"
"Whoever you vote for they win"
"Choose your dictator"
"In soviet Russia they had elections too"

Never held a protest before, any tips?

I don't think I hate everyone quite enough to vote for McCain.

Of course, being a Texan, my non-McCain vote won't count anyway...

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('Hawkcreek', 'I') describe myself as a gun-loving liberal, but I find myself wanting to vote for McWhatshisname.

If gun rights are your single issue, McCain is a sound vote because Obama has either a D or an F rating by the NRA in his public voting record. Also there will likely be more friction on whatever bills get introduced by Congress with two different parties controlling the legislative and executive branch.

If Democratic policies (whatever they are and however they differ from Republican policies) are your more important drive, Obama is sound choice as long as you're comfortable with whatever policies the Congress comes up with being given probable carte blanche.

I'm not voting for either because I distrust Obama on domestic policy (as any government dominated by a single party) and I distrust McCain on foreign policy, so I'm comfortably equally unhappy with whoever wins. Naturally, these shouldn't matter to you if you are a subscriber of the death cult mentality that is so popular here...

I'm voting for Obama, because he may be charismatic like FDR and make us all feel a little better as it all gets worse and worse.

What the heck else are you doing for 15 minutes on November 4th? Why not pretend we live in a democracy and that it matters?

Besides, a friend of mine is running for the state legislature. I may as well vote for president while I'm casting a ballot for him.

All politics are local.

Obama is just the top of the ticket. The other people will really matter in your local area.

There are usually lots of great snacks being sold by little old ladies and people you haven't seen in a while.

It's a good time. Why not vote?

You get snacks? All we get are little stickers that say, "I voted."

We don't even get the stickers! What gives?

Then again, I showed up kind of late last time and they might have run out of them.

Why does is matter who gets blamed. Isn't it obvious that most people in the world are just too stupid (or in denial) to face depletion head on. The fact that no other governments in the world are making any kind of real plans to deal with PO, should give you an idea how universal the problem is.

To split a hair, the U.S. is a republic not a democracy. We hire professional politicians to deal with the thorny problems so we can spend our time doing the things we enjoy. A condition of that employment is that we expect politicians to skim a bit of the cream off the top as a cost of doing business. When the politicians get too greedy and too lazy it is a simple matter to through the rascals out. We simply vote against every standing incumbent. As long as we support our thief and rail against the other fellow’s, the system will go on.

I would be tempted to vote for McCain, but while he'll be gone in 4 years, we'll be stuck with his court appointees for another 30.. maybe more.

Every four years, I run around yelling, "It's the Supreme Court, stupid!"

You are absolutely right. The most important concern is the Supreme Court. You better pray you get appointees that are strict constitutionalists. Do you really want someone who pulls crap out his ass and rules based on his personal biases?

As the economy grinds down and life gets tough.....you want your rights protected.

Have you reviewed Obama/Bidens position on gun rights?

Yes I have, and I'm not naive enough to think that they're going to send federal agents to my home to take my shotgun and rifle away from me. [smilie=5dunce.gif]
On the other hand, I have already seen right-wing judges snivel at the notion of habeas corpus. Downright scary.

The supreme court has five guys of the same religion and four not. When push comes to shove the constitution will be ignored when necessary, just like when they picked the president.
