Winter is coming by James Goulding
Published in 2003 about the coming American crisis, Iraq, Euro, Inflation etc.

WIC

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', 'A')bstract Winter is Coming

Winter is coming, tells the story of a crisis era called Winter. This crisis is just a few short years away. The work in this book is based on two generational theorists, William Strauss and Neil Howe. The book also includes economist Harry S. Dent's work.

You'll want to read this book if you want to know why the DOW is headed to 35,000 by 2009, and why it will be cut in half by 2010. Why and who is forcing the coming crisis. How the crisis era cycles through American History arrive like clockwork, yet, they shock everyone when they come

Learn how reoccurring financial, war, generational, and political cycles contribute to our history and shape our future.

Learn:

how 'America's Greatest Generation' ripped you off

why 'boomers suck'

how approximately every 85 years, the generations line up in specific age location that set the stage for the Winter era

about America's biggest threat, the Euro

Winter is Coming is short, concise and a great introduction to the brilliant work of Strauss and Howe.

Here is a good listing with links to free e-books.
It covers mainly folklore, history, religion etc.
The links seem to all point to google books, but it is easier to browse a list like this than searching in google books.

forgottenbooks

Personally I am going to have a look at The book of Enoch that I have been curious about for several years now.

Book of Enoch is one of the books that didn't make it into the bible.
It is about visions Enoch (grand father of Noah) had.
The book was simply concidered a bit too groovy.

I've heard Tsarion and other take quotes from it as evidence that Enoch actually was visited by aliens. Quite often quotes etc are however taken out of contex and put into new contex, so I got curious to read the stuff myself.

Have browsed a bit and already found passages that don't feel very Christian. More suitable for vengeful people like myself (or other likeminded humanoids). (I know, I know, should forgive TPTB but the flesh is weak.)
For instance he wrote about unrightful posession of gold, silver and other metals and how God would smite these and God and the Angels would delight in their undoing.

Yikes!!

Scenario 1: “A global terrorists group blows up an aircraft and announces it possesses portable nuclear weapons. The United States and Its allies launch a preemptive strike. The terrorists threaten to retaliate against an American city. Congress declares war and authorizes unlimited house to house searches. Opponents charge that the president concocted the emergency for political purposes. A nationwide strike is declared.
Foreign capital flees the U.S.”

Scenario 2: Beset by a financial crisis, a state lays claim to its
residents’ federal tax monies. Declaring this an act of secession, the
president obtains a federal injunction. The governor refuses to back
down. Federal marshals enforce the court order. Similar tax rebellions spring up in other states. Treasury bill auctions are suspended. Militia violence breaks out. Cyberterrorists destroy IRS databases. U.S. Special Forces are put on alert. Demands issue for a new Constitutional Convention

Scenario 3: An impasse over the federal budget reaches a
stalemate. The president and Congress both refuse to back down,
triggering a near total government shutdown. The president declares emergency powers. Congress rescinds his authority. Dollar and bond prices plummet. The president threatens to stop Social Security checks.

Congress refuses to raise the debt ceiling. Default looms. Wall Street panics.”
Furthermore, the talk about secession by individual states from the
United States is escalating. That talk is coming from the southwest and the northwest. The “impasse over the federal budget reaches a stalemate” prediction seems unthinkable.

However, a few things remind me that this can easily take place. One is, the recent events in California with the recall of the Governor and the size of the voter turn out. It was estimated that 51—70% of the people voted

I would say scenario 1 is the msot likely. unless this were to take place while bush is still in power, then I could see number 3 happening.

Project Gutenberg. In case you don't know, nothing but Public Domain material here, free for the taking, since 1971 too!

Google Book Search. If you select Full View you'll get complete versions of classic out-of-print titles.

Internet Archive. Books, music, film.

The Librums PDFs Collection Page. Unfortunately seems to be closed due to copyright issues.

The Online Books Page looks to be a good meta-search for eBooks.

My favorite search engine for purchasing real books is AddALL book search and price comparison, which checks prices at Amazon, Albris, Albion, and also other vendors whose name doesn't begin with A. :-D

I hear it's a very long read. I'm checking that one out. Banned from the Bible in the 3rd century by the Emperor of Rome and his religious stooges.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', 'T')his long hidden "Book of Enoch and Noah", which originally was part of the Holy Bible; and was wrongfully removed by powerful evil people who did not want you to read it, because of what it says about them.

I just revisited a brief book (50+ pages) that I downloaded back in 2006 because it covered topics so valid today.
I did a quick search and found that is still avaialble as a PDF download on the net.

It is about Peak Oil, Geopolitics, Iran hysteria and why US will start a new cold war with Russia.

About the author: William Clark is the author of Petrodollar Warfare: Oil, Iraq and the Future of
the Dollar (New Society Publishers, 2005). He has received two Project Censored awards, first in
2003 for his ground-breaking research on the Iraq War, oil currency conflict, and US geostrategy,
and again in 2005 for his research on Iran’s proposed euro-denominated oil bourse (Censored
2006: The Top 25 Censored Stories, Seven Stories Press). He is an Information Security Analyst
and guest lecturer in the U.S. and abroad.

Came recently across this site;
http://www.avaxhome.ws
It is like filesharing except you don't need software and you don't need to register to access.
Simply browse the sections and download in your browser.
Lots of good books, audio books and magazines etc on food growing, home power, wood working etc.
Also a lot of other stuff but I thougth the above would be most pertinant to mention.

The site isn't totally friendly to use i.e. you need to use the little details link in the corner of a search result and you then need to go via DL sites and for free use you often need to wait 30-60 sec etc.
Their search tool isn't very good either and you probably want to filter on language as there there are material in a number of different languages.
A small hassle though considering what you get.

What I do however like is that every link has a relevant picture.
i.e. the magazine will have the cover page so you can get some better idea what it contains.
