Browsing the Long Now Foundation site, I ran into longbets.org and was surprised to find that there is no bet on peak oil! There's an "abiotic oil" bet (good one to be on the "no" side of, IMO) but nothing specifically on peak oil. I'd make a prediction myself but it costs 50 bucks. With the baby coming and everything, I can't spare that much cash on a bet.

Anyway, maybe a peaker with deeper pockets than mine and the ability to articulate a strong argument for PO will pick up the gauntlet. It appears that philanthropists and other powerful individuals have connections to this site.
