$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('Eli', 'E')very serious runner I have ever seen looks like a Concentration camp victim.

Cyclists too, quite often. Is it possible to have too low cholesterol levels. I think so!! Running is HELL on the knees as you get older. Don't do it. If you're an endorphin addict, just walk.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('WildRose', 'T')hat's fun, too, and great exercise. We incorporate "the twist" into some of our bellydance routines and get down near the floor. Of course, the hardest part is getting back up (at my age :-D )

My God, WR, you're amazing!

Thanks, Threadbear. :) I'm really just getting into this dance (about 1 1/2 years now) compared to our instructors, though. They are really incredible to watch. Have you ever heard of tribal bellydance? They incorporate the large, machete-type knives into their dance, balancing them on the abdomen and on the head (and those knives are heavy!), really something to see.

Dumb Bell Press
Rows
Curling
Isometrics

Dead Lifts

if you do enough reps, anything can be a cardio workout

Biking and roller-blading are great during the five months of spring, summer, and fall we get here in Alaska. Skiing in the winter lasts about 5 months. Add a month for "mud season" at either end of winter.

Generally if you want to stay healthy as you age you need cardio, strength training, and flexibility. Having said that I love(d) running but my knee is toast so I bike, box (bad for knee too), use an ellpitical machine and occasionally do weights, but not nearly enough as my overly svelte physique shows.
