The theory of transfer orbits is actually an energy related subject, since naturally an expenditure of energy is required to change a spaceship (or an asteroid) from one orbit to another. Rockets burn fuel to generate thrust, a force that acts on the rocket, its payload, and its so-far unspent fuel.

I might edit the Elliptical Transfer Orbit article because there's a few neat things I thought of while writing the one for hyperbolas that I didn't bother with before, such as the idea of evolving the departure state vector (once you have both position and velocity in the transfer orbit at that moment of time) forward by solving the restricted two-body problem by time-integration. It makes a nice check of the Keplerian solution.

TWO asteroids:
