$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('Cloud9', 'W')arm and fuzzy slogans tend to cover up harsh realities. Be careful of the unintended consequences of the support you give to people and organizations that blanket the media with flashy placards and high sounding slogans. Any sane person wants to save the environment. Remember, the German people voted for a politician who wanted to end unemployment reverse the trends of industrialization and return his people to a simpler farm life. He didn’t smoke. He never cheated on his wife. He drank modestly. He rarely ate meat. He loved children and dogs.
The German people yearned for a leader that would return them to a position of self respect. He was considered young, bold and dynamic. He was seen as an agent of change. He was a departure from the old and promised the German people something new. He led his country to a position of unprecedented power and prestige. He shattered world conventions.
When he was done; he was responsible for the deaths of millions, his nation was in ruins and its women were whoring themselves in the streets for a crust of bread.
We live in a democracy, so someone will be elected regardless. I'd rather vote for somebody advocating a change from existing policies in a situation where those policies are in the process of failing. Change is seldom comfortable and sometimes downright risky, but also sometimes necessary. Also, its a fallacious argument to conclude that all leaders arguing for change have sinister motives based on the actions of one.
