"I think it's an awful story, and I hate to be the one to tell it." So says Chris Nelder, an editor at EnergyandCapital.com and co-author of "Profit from the Peak," who maintains that peak oil -- the concept that global oil production will soon decline sharply -- is fact, not theory.
Regardless of which camp you fall into on the debate over peak oil, the effects of diminished oil supplies Nelder describes in the accompanying video are hair-raising:
The end of the suburbs as we know them.
A boom in coal production and use, resulting in continued carbon emissions.
Global fuel and food riots.
Still, every cloud has its silver lining, and Nelder notes that a resurgence in local farming and intensified development of renewable energy sources are inevitable. And while sweeping changes in world energy use may be a long way off, Nelder has some tips on alternative energy stocks you can use today.
Please read the comments. I am a doomer , but at least I know the facts, and I understand pretty much of the situation... but ... pffff those ppl are blindfolded. Their gonna get a hell of a ride.
