$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('threadbear', '')$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('PenultimateManStanding', 'T')he Night Of The Long Knives is approaching. Heads are going to roll, blood will be spilled. I think it will be both internal and external. A war of of all against all, here and abroad, everywhere. Punks in the hood, suits, Soccer Moms with machetes, kids with Uzis, even the dogs will go berzerk when they don't get their Alpo. Poodles foaming at the mouth and ripping apart hapless groomers. Cats hissing, clawing at eyes. Rats massing. Sewers rupture, disease spreading, nukes launched and no more Slurpees. So who's going to give a crap about Karl Rove?

The Unitary Executive in action: "Hey, I'm the Decider and I've decided that Karl don't have to speak to you guys. Now git!"
Until somebody calls the little creep on this sort of behavior, I'm afraid, yes, regrettably, you do have a dictatorship of sorts. Even Nixon never pulled a stunt like this. All his guys, Dean, Haldeman, etc. turned up at the committee and testified when they got subpoenaed.

Thanks. I was doing my best to sound Biblical. As Tom Paine pointed out, they were poets and singers of songs who wrote that book. I can only hope that PenultimateManStanding will be revered as a prophet 2000 years from now but I kind of doubt it. 8)

One law for the elite and another for the rest of the peasants.

If they fail to arrest and prosecute, then the illusion of equality is shattered. This man has committed treason, and should be punished. Anything short of that, and congress may as well take a stroll through Alrington spitting on graves.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('BigTex', '')$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('Kingcoal', 'I')'ve often said that once the Executive branch finds it doesn't have to listen to Congress or the Supreme Court, it's all settled, we live under a dictatorship.
You mean like since FDR's first term?

If you want to look at it that way. However, Nixon resigning before impeachment doesn't fit that mold. In FDR's case, he kept challenging the Supreme Court and getting shot down, but he won in the end because he ended up appointing so many new judges, he swung the court his way. In my 45 years, I've never seen an administration so blatantly political and disrespectful of our traditions of government as this one. At the end of the day, it really is just a Gentleman's agreement - respecting the Constitution and precedent that is.

The Congress is using Karl Rove to throw the hicks a bone. And the hicks have fallen for it again!

The same dupes who believed the dems when they said they would stop the Iraq War in 2006, and believed the dems when they said they would bring down the price of oil by passing a law to stop the oil going into the U.S. strategic petroleum reserve, and believed the dems when they said they would vote against the FISA bill, and believed the dems when they said they were for campaign finance reform, are all worked up because the dems in Congress are going after that very very bad man, that evil Karl Rove.

Who cares if the dems lied about the Iraq War!!!....they are going to get Karl Rove!!!! :)

I really don't care what the ulterior motives are. The day MC Rove hits the slammer should be considered a national holiday.

Arrested AND convicted? We couldn't be that lucky.

Congress should act quickly and convict Rove. He must be guilty of something.

....lawmakers decided to pull out one of the most feared weapons in their arsenal: the empty-chair stunt. They printed up a name card for "Mr. Karl Rove" and displayed it on the witness table. They put out a glass of cold water with ice, and pointed the microphone toward an empty wooden armchair.
"This meeting today is a travesty of a mockery of a sham," protested Cannon, paraphrasing the great authority on separation-of-power disputes, Woody Allen......

Good thing Congress doesn't have any pressing issues to deal with or anything more important to do, so they've got lots of time for political theatre.....the "empty chair" stunt looks GREAT on television.... :)
