Nafta has an energy pact section ensures Canada sells a percetage of our oil to the US.

I wonder why all the recent political hot air in the US re: renegotiating Nafta especially from the Democrats since the energy portion of the pact is going to be necessary to the US in the short term future.

Yeah, and it's the first thing a lot of people want on the table. There are some pretty solid currencies out there and many people are wondering why we shouldn't be trading the oil for ones that don't melt in your hand like the modern greenback.
