It seems that some people here find nothing wrong with openly arguing that the whole human species deserves to be extinct, while facetiously claiming that the obvious common sense reply "you first" constitutes advocacy of suicide.
In my opinion claims that humans deserve to be extinct constitute open advocacy of genocide.
I have to seriously inquire about the ethical dimensions of such posts.
I don't see any problems wishing humans would go extinct...especially with the way we've raped this planet like no other species of animals have ever done in the entire history of planet Earth.
The way I see it, if 5 billion people have to go, what gives the "right" for the remaining people to keep repeating the same cycle of resource depletion and overshoot, over and over, until there's nothing left at all? I do find the idea of a pristine Earth without humans very, very appealing...perhaps us humans can just stay in spirit form and enjoy the Earth that way...hehe.
I really do feel deeply that we're an evolutionary mistake, which has to be corrected somehow. And if we have to go extinct, oh well... that's too darned bad for us, huh? If we're not smart enough to control our own destiny, why shouldn't nature have the right to eliminate us? We're no more special than any other life form that has arisen in past half billion years or so, although it's a bit difficult for some of us to accept that.
Nowhere to run, nowhere to hide...

...Encouraging suicide is explicitly against our Code of Conduct, and is one of its most vigorously enforced provisions...
Not that I want to advocate everybody go out and commit suicide...but there is a big difference between suicide ... what you do to yourself and genocide ... what you are attempting to do to another race or is being done to ewe.

genocide as in eliminate their
genome.

I realize that's a fine line, of course. I believe these CoC restrictions are primarily in place for liability reasons, not to force people to be nice.
That is a very fine line. I would probably report any post I saw in which one poster tells another poster he "deserves to die." "You deserve to die" is, in my opinion, a threat.
Anyway, I realize questions of this kind to moderation decisions aren't supposed to be posted in the forums.

What a double standard. Saying "you first, thanks" to someone advocating the extermination of the human species constitutes encouragement to suicide, but saying "he illustrates the need for human extinction" does not.
Maybe "he illustrates the need for human extinction" constitutes
encouragement to muder, just like:
