$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('pedalling_faster', '
')one good candidate is Walking Stick Cabbage, which i have also heard referred to as tree chard.

I grew that in California and it was a lot of fun and very productive. I haven't tried it here yet (not sure why :oops: ).

Farknight hit it on the head with "betting WE are in the RIGHT place". Better be right in our decisions, huh?

As a society we will continue to make short term decisions with bad long term results. As individuals, we have a window of opportunity to choose a spot for ourselves. I think that opportunity will pass toward a time of very limited ability to move somewhere else..

I don't see EV's or any other tech fix working, even in the short term, without some other advantage such as building it yourself for low cost. As higher prices due to PO hit, alternatives become less affordable on front end cost, so more people are priced out of the market for solar panels, EV's, whatever.

Being the dunces that we are, most people don't think beyond next payday, or remember longer that the last soundbite on the tube. If that be so, then, there is no way to avoid a hard crash, nor to prevent squandering of crucial resources in wrong-headed short term "solutions", promoted by those who will profit in money or power. If the public is thirsty, they will drink whatever Kool Aid is offered. That means we will piss away whatever chance we had to powerdown. Case in point: 1973-4 up to the present. Please refute this if possible, because it doesn't look good to me.

Well, that was sort of off-topic, so I should add the rest of the thought. We need to do what we can as individuals, as people on this forum have figured out, because the vast majority of the public will do it wrong, if they do anything at all.

So, get where you want to be, and don't lose any time about it. You may have already missed the bus, depending on your local circumstances.

It will be interesting as the vacation season comes upon us to see how much Americans will travel theis summer and how far?

(1) Gas prices are high approaching $5.00 per gallon in Canada.

(2) Motel rates and campground rates are also high particularly in Canada where its hard to get anything below $100 per night for a motel or $20 for a campground.

So far all thats happened is a call on the government to do something.

It would be downright un-Canadian not to immediately call on the government to fix a problem! ; - ))
The organized state is a wonderful invention whereby everyone can live at someone else's expense.
