As a conservative, academic with eligibility for the same number of letters after my name as in my name, southerner, fried chicken -eating bubba, I would like to say this to those who hate NASCAR, (my dad ran a still with his dad and modified cars) it will change but never go away. Those boys will race whatever, whenever. As far as waste sure, but remember this is the crucible that the internal combustion engine reached what efficiency is has. This is applied science.

F1 all the way

0mph-100mph-0mph < 5 sec
5g on turns
could drive upside down due to downforce > 80 mph
2.4L naturally aspirated engine 800hp
weight 605kg with a driver
20,000 rpm limited

I don't really care about a few gallons, if I want to get pissed about wasting gas at someone then it would be goverment planning for building more and more highways instead of investing in trains and light rails

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', 'T')he real pinch, though, comes in jet fuel. Many team owners shuttling crew members, and drivers flying private planes on weekends, are considering cutting down on the luxuries.
I have nothing against NASCAR.

But I have issues with individual idiots who like to cry poor.
Excuse me but anybody who has the money to fly private planes deserves no sympathy.
I think there's plenty of "fat" that can be cut from the system here.

I'm a firm believer in PO but whenever I read things like this it just reinforces my belief that TSHTF hasn't happen yet.

Dale Jr. had an interview in some sports magazine that i was reading. I caught the part about him saying he was going to race for the next 20 years or something insane like that.

There was a really funny onion article about rookies in Nascar. It said they didn't know how to push the gas all the way down.

One other thing...they should race naked.
lawns should be outlawed.

I did read an article a few weeks back about how the fans are the real victims here. People complaining about how much it costs to fuel up the RV, pay to get in, eat that shitty food, get back home, etc.....That just doesn't register with me.

I say let the whole NASCAR thing go on. It should implode like everything else.

On a related note:

I was out moving soil from our driveway into the new beds out back and my neighbor stopped me and started going on about his RV. Said it takes 110 bucks to fill his RV..said he was happy about getting 8 miles per gallon. Then he said he just put 1000.00 bucks into getting the monster ready to go someplace for a week. He's towing a boat to boot.
And this is a guy who is 82 and had to take a part time job as a greeter at the box hardware place to pay for meds the VA cut. He's also got 4 cars.
Punk is not really a style of music. It was more like a state of mind.

Are NASCAR races held in the middle of nowhere? If people aren't driving to a NASCAR race they are probably driving to some other form of entertainment. It's not NASCAR's fault for t hat.

LOL....

Good. That sport farking sucks. Total, total mullet fest. You see record NBA attendance, and we all know people will walk 80 miles to go to an NFL game.

But Nascar? Good. What a crappy, crappy waste of oil. It should have never been a sport in the first place. Nascar is to oil what golfing is to water - both insane wastes of resources.

Lol....I agree with the above completely with one exception. You called it a sport. I freakin hate it when people call NASCAR a sport. Since when is the ability to turn left for a couple hours considered a skill?

Well no need to diss the drivers. They're good, but it's a wasteful activity. Heck all pro sports with their air travel is a waste. We should just eliminate all pro sports ASAP and enjoy our local amateur teams.

Yes. i agree. I always thought NASCAR was a joke. And I'm so glad that golf was mentioned. I've been hearing all this stuff about Tiger Woods and I just keep thinking...water waste. Those greens drink enough water, don't they?

F1 is looking at ways to develop cars where the technology would be transferable to road cars - smaller, fuel efficient turbos, ethanol, tire compounds, etc., all with consumers in mind.

Cool stuff.

I agree completely. NASCAR is a complete joke. I also do not regard the drivers as highly skillful in comparison to F1 or open country Rally Car drivers. Absolute Joke!!!

Its hard making a continuous left turn. Pushing that gas down isn't easy either. When I look to the heavens I can still see that little number 3 going around the track.

I refuse to believe that anyone who is on this site and is seriously concerned about PO can truly be a Nascar fan as well. It's the equivalent of a rat who's a fan of rat poison.
