We are so screwed.

MSNBC is headlining that high gas prices are here to stay.

"Unlike 70s, there is no more supply to quench growing appetite for crude"

Link http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/25127525/

Ya know, I was raised on shows like Buck Rogers and Battlestar Galactica, the first one. I saw Star Wars 3 times. I really believed we would always advance forward with technology. Now the reality is extraordinarily inverted. Now I am wondering if I will be able to feed my kids. This headline hit me extra hard because for some weird reason, it made it more true. I guess I was still shaking hands with denial.

Yep.
Massive Human Dieoff must occur as a result of Peak Oil. Many more than half will die. It will occur everywhere, including where you live. If you fail to recognize this, then your odds of living move toward the "going to die" group.

Wow, they are still quoting Lynch, just when I though the MSM saw the light

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', 'M')alaysia and India, groaning under the weight of high fuel prices, have just begun cutting subsidies. Analysts such as Michael Lynch of Strategic Energy & Economic Research in Winchester, Mass., said others will follow.

"At this level of prices, very few countries can afford subsidies if they are importing," he said.

Da!

For those newcomers that don't know, Lynch 'debated' PO here when oil was around $40. At that time he expcted it to go down. He also expected it to go down to $40 when it went to $60 and then $80, and then just expected it to go down all the way up to $140.

So if they are still quoting Lynch and not Simmons, then the acceptance phase has some distance to go yet.

Countries, including the US, will be increasing the net amount of subsidies or reducing energy taxes even more than before. For example, India raised energy prices 10% over a period when prices increased 20% more.
It's already over, now it's just a matter of adjusting.

How did we go from speculators and dollar deval a month ago to we are out of oil?

500 mph into a brick wall.

God? Control? It sounds like something from a Lewis Mumford book.

POAlex, I love you man, as PO chaplain. Calling out god as a man on a throne is a big leap though. That take some hubris.

I have come across references to the Titanic numerous times at PO. Coming up on a hundred years after it sank, actually, about the time PO is really suppose to become apparent even to the sheople is 100 years exactly. 2012. I appreciate now more than ever our collective obsession with the doomed ship. It encompasses the totality of our collective ignorance. We'll never sink. We'll never run out of easy oil.

After the depression lifts get to work on preparedness. It took me a week to get back on track and shake the depression when I first found out about PO.

And yes those of us that are not able to adapt will take an ass reaming and they wont even be able to use Vaseline since that is made from crude oil as well.

Survival is also about comfort...we try to be as comfortable as possible in uncomfortable circumstances. When we get too uncomfortable we can die. It is that simple

Flexibility and adaptation are two characteristics of the successful survivor.

Some of us do a great job surviving catastrophes and some of us cannot even survive a stretch of hot weather and die.

It takes knowledge, dedication and action to be successful at it.

Remember, knowledge without application is useless.

One other point; none of us will be ultimate survivors, we all have to die one day. But the successful survivor extends his or her life beyond an earlier death...a death that was caused by ignorance of how to make that life last longer.

We (meaning the mainstream media and the oil reps and heads of state) were talking about speculators and dollar deval last WEEK. I think the IEA report was the first big tipping point in the spiel coming out of the idiot box.
