Built to last? HA! Ruins, I tell you. Some of them barely 2500 years old and falling apart already! ; - ))

Lessons learned? They had the where with all and technical knowledge to build all those temples; aquaducts; colliseums; open air toilets; and works of art and mosaics to decorate them. But as soon as their less well-off neighbors coveted their stash or an earthquake came along, poof, and it was all gone. Sure, some of the boulders, cut stones and the odd pilar are still there, but the empty destroyed churches of the eastern Meditteranean stand in silent testimony to man's ignorance as much as to his ingenuity.

Anyone that thinks we can innovate our way out of peak oil resource depletion, and thrive while others struggle to survive, should take a lesson from History and SHUT THEIR ORATORICAL ORFICES!
