If it's alternative energy you want, move to King Island.

You could also try Tasmania. Nearly all its electricity is from hydro though some wind farms have been built during the last few years which will allow the State to export some of its green electricity to the Australian mainland. The State does have one thermal power station which I think only gets used occassionally for peak shaving.
So its a place which will have plenty electricity when the rest of the world is in the dark but transport will be a problem. Take a bicycle but
it will be hard work in the hilly suburbs of the capital city Hobart. Pity, the city used to have electric trams, electric buses and a passenger railway. All got eliminated 30 to 40 years ago in favour of gasoline guzzling cars, and diesel guzzling buses.

I was down visiting an aunt in North Wales not too long ago. It's a nice place, but I found it a bit cramped for a rural community. It was rather strange- like being in a warmer version of the West Coast.
There'll be war, there'll be peace
But one day all things shall cease
All the iron turned to rust
All the proud men turned to dust
So all things time will mend
So this song will end
