I know some people here are in Virginia but just can't remember who.
Check in or if you know who lives that direction post it up...
The legitimate object of government, is to do for a community of people, whatever they need to have done, but can not do, at all, or can not, so well do, for themselves -- in their separate, and individual capacities. -- Abraham Lincoln, Fragment on Government (July 1, 1854)
Wasn't really near me and as of last night there were no reported deaths. A teacher friend of mine called and said that she had to drive through the debris littering the interstate, south of Richmond, last night. It sucks for anyone who lives in Hopewell, Suffolk and surrounding communities.
The sound of a tornado coming at you is something I heard once and never want to experience again. It gives you this crazy feeling that you can't get off the tracks - even a near miss is scary.
When somebody makes a statement you don't understand, don't tell him he's crazy. Ask him what he means. -- Otto Harkaman, Space Viking
"We were standing on the edges
Of a thousand burning bridges
Sifting through the ashes every day
What we thought would never end
Now is nothing more than a memory
The way things were before
I lost my way" - OCMS
I thought Heinekin was in the Piedmont or Blue Ridge region of Virginia. These storms were in the southern Coastal Plain. It's not unheard of to get twisters there, but usually they are offshore as 'waterspouts'. I have people in Chesapeake which is near to Suffolk, but I haven't talked with them yet.
