pfffft!

I didn't say it was required agreeing.

But if you haven't read Catton's argument, it's hard to critique it OR agree with it.

There are arguments against the overshoot/die-off thesis. But you have to know Catton's case before you can refute it.

I think Catton cuts to the heart of what's wrong with our world. That doesn't mean I'm rooting for a die-off or that I am not horrified at the idea.

Why would you NOT recommend that someone read it (other than personally thinking it is dull)?

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('BigTex', '
')mos6507, I'm curious, were you already familiar with Catton's entire analysis? Is that part of what made it boring?

My introduction to PO was via Life after the Oil Crash. So I already knew the gist.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('BigTex', '
')Did you learn anything from it, or was it all stuff you already knew?

I'll let you know when I finish it. Maybe there is a big Death Star battle further into it.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('BigTex', '
')Did you disagree with any of his analysis or conclusions?

I already agree with his conclusions at a visceral level. I don't really need to be won over by data that I've largely already absorbed.
