I wonder why such charts aren't presented before congress.
Because pointing out an obvious and well known fact in the natural discovery process is only a surprise to the amateurs?
Fill up 100 ballons and tape them to the wall in your apartment/house/garage bungalow/hovel. Make 80 of them smaller than your head, ranging in size from your thumb to your head. Lets call this group "the majority". For the other 20, start at the size of your head and blow them up to a maximum size of a 52" plasma TV. Call these "the minority".
You have just synthesized a lognormal distribution of sizes of oil fields, a bulk of them are small and not near as interesting as the big ones. The "majority" represent the main body of field sizes, the "minority" represent a truncated tail of a lognormal distribution as it stretches off to infinity.
Put on a blindfold. Spin around a few times. Throw 10 darts at the wall. Take off the blindfold and quantify which sizes of ballons you deflated. Repeat as necessary until the wall is covered with darts.
Graph the results. Create a creaming curve. Go ahead...its easy.
When complete, you will have a good handle on a natural discovery process model which explains why no one except people who DON'T understand this process think your chart shows anything which wasn't obvious BEFORE you even started throwing darts at the wall.
