Metastasis. As in, unrestrainable growth is our cancer. The distended organ that fueled it (petroleum growth) has ruptured, and now we're getting symptoms all over the body... credit crisis, infrastructure underinvestment (bridge collapses), food insecurity, wars.
At 1% annual growth, human bodies will incorporate every gram in the observable universe in approximately 10,170 years.
