Anyone here running current home theater technology?

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', 'D')olby® TrueHD is Dolby’s next-generation lossless technology developed for high-definition disc-based media. Dolby TrueHD delivers tantalizing sound that is bit-for-bit identical to the studio master, unlocking the true high-definition entertainment experience on next-generation discs. When coupled with high-definition video, Dolby TrueHD offers an unprecedented home theater experience that lets you enjoy sound as stunning as the high-definition picture.

*Dolby TrueHD can support more than eight audio channels. HD DVD and Blu-ray Disc standards currently limit their maximum number of audio channels to eight.

Can't help you with the components-my husband is the audiophile.
He just finished the basement home theater room a couple of months ago.
We took half the basement-that was done in cheap-looking fake barn wall paneling, gold & brown carpet with an 8 x 8 tile floor for square dancing (I Kid You Not), and redid it: all new walls, done in grey with burgandy & black accents, new carpet, black ceiling tiles, wall sconces that dim by remote control, etc. Turned out very nice. (Hubby deserves it-he's a hard worker).

I was current about a year and a half ago. But my receiver is HDMI 1.1 and now if I want BluRay I won't get the TruHD. There actually isn't a BluRay player to be found around here, they are all sold out. The Tweeter sales guy said they have 50 prepaid people on a wait list for a Sony model and all the other models except for the ones over $1K are backordered as well.

Buy a Playstation 3. The blue ray player is great, it only cost $399 and you can play fuel of war if you get board watching movies.

Sounds pretty cool. Ask him about the "new" audio format. I guess you can get the same quality as the studio master now. WOW.

I just picked up the new Led Zeppelin HD-DVD "The song remains the same" but don't have Dolby TrueHD capabilities with my system. I hate that!

FYI: Surround sound was used back in the 70's in some films.
