Research shows that kangaroo meat is very low in fat, which makes it tough and difficult to eat. Corned beef can't be beat. Some swiss cheese, thousand islands, sauerkraut and slices of sourdough toast. . .

I made corned beef today. Boiled it in beer and spices all day and served with cabbage, potatoes, carrots, and lots of butter. It may not be truly Irish, but it was truly excellent. Yum!

I boiled up a brisket last week. Not being one to waste a pot full of Love, I used the leftover stock to cook some beans. The beans were so good, if you tossed them in the air, they would come down as sunshine,

All this talk of sandwiches is making me hungry - and angry. All I can get around here is this goddamned yuppy crap like crab and mango salad. I'd kill for some pastrami or a Rueben.

Does anyone else have this problem?

Yes, the sandwiches here are crap.

And our corned beef is not the same as your corned beef.

And they never come with pickle :x

I think kpeavey's "Love and Sunshine" beans sound pretty good.

Of course the alcohol cooks out of the beer quickly, so no problem. It's basically for flavor and tenderizing. Sure did the trick, the meat was falling apart.

For you guys on the other side of the pond, I think you can make your own corned beef. I believe the brisket is just brined for a couple of days, perhaps with some unique spices. Just google it up and enjoy.

More of what we already know.

Brisket

Aggie graduate student Stacey Turk's master's thesis shows that fat from brisket contains significant amounts of oleic acid, a monounsaturated fatty acid that can promote good cholesterol in people.

She found that fat from brisket contained nearly 50 percent oleic acid. For beef, that percentage is significantly close to the 70 percent to 80 percent found in olive or canola oil, according to the report.

Almost pornographic pic from the article.

I'm having roast beast tonight but I hope to have some corned beef this weekend with some cabbage.
