WWIII

Europe will be frightened. They rely on fossil fuels just as America does. If their supply runs out it will mean death. These differential needs are irrelevant. Gas prices are not the point. Modern Civilization relies on oil, for them and for us. No oil, no modern civilization. The only outcome is war.

First they will come for our guns. Then they will come for our gas. In the end, they will come for our food.

Give it some time. I don't usually kill for food when I'm feeling some daily munchies in my dormitory. I'd probably kill somebody and eat them if I went 2 weeks without food.

Is Europe capable of going to war without the United States?

And whom would they attack?

How long can Europe last with a supply interruption? A few weeks? A month? Nearly all any nations reserves would be diverted to military and emergency uses when a stoppage occurs. So the general public will be without. This won't be tolerated for long especially if it happens during winter so the public will demand action of some kind. This is why the USA attacked Iraq, of course. It's why the USA is threatening Iran too.

Now, in the past Europe has repeatedly attacked itself, as we all know. It will probably attack itself again and the best target is obviously Russia, which is about the only European nation that has lots of oil. It's well worth fighting for so don't be surprised when the fighting starts. Russia, which has been attacked from the west countless times in the past, clearly knows this too, which is why they keep their military self-defense forces strong and ready.

Nope, when "we" get hungry. 8)

How far from France to the oil wells of Russia?

I would predict great hardship with the Muslim population serving the time honored role of scapegoat. They may switch roles and become Russian vassels in exchange for oil but I have a hard time seeing why they would commit suicide by attacking Russia to no end.

Europe lacks even the self-confidence to commit suicide. They will freeze and starve first.

China on the other hand. that is a nation that has the confidence to commit to taking on the Russian Bear and it has a more realistic expectation that it might be able to pry the oil rigs from Russia's dying hand. On top of that with too many people and a sense of historical grievance (against "them") and we might see some spectacular sunsets... you know, right before they year that sees snow on the ground all year long.
