Who is stronger, you or the cigarette?

Just remember, the cigarettes were manufactured by a globalist empire with added addiction chemicals put in there to make you a slave and make you pay them outrageous sums of money, while they kill you.

Every time you refouse to smoke, you are refusing to take it up the bung by international tobacco.

now, to make it younwill have to stop drinking coffee and pop.
caffiene multiplies cigarette hunger by 10 times

also no chocolate.

go snow-shoe around the block or do 100 situps and drink two glasses of water everytime you get a craving.

Your sub conscious will begin to associate a craving thought with PAIN and will knock it off pretty quickly, promise.

Plus, you'll get really buff...

international tobacco, write them a letter everytime you have a craving and let them know what damage they are doing to you and what sufferi9ng you are going through, thanks for nothing.

Yep, it was suprisingly more annoying than I thought considering I probably only smoked about two packs worth or something, over the space of the summer.

Random (but not that intense, just like a chocolate craving) cravings still pop up even today.

It has been 19 years since I stopped smoking and sometimes I still dream about it or get cravings. One dream comes up under stress, and get nauseated from OD, and I wake up and check to see if I had really done it, it is really addicting. Do not start.

The people that sell this should be put in prison for crimes against humanity.

Strange. I was feeling really good all day, and now I am having an urge as bad as when I first quit. Watching the hockey game...that must be it. Ooooh...I came close to going to the store. Put on my coat and was about to lace my boots. Lol. This is brutal.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('Shannymara', 'J')ust get through the next few minutes if that's all you can do. Is there any way you can make yourself sweat? I guess with the winter you're dealing with probably not, but I found working out enough to make myself sweat a lot helped, too. A sauna would probably work the same way.

Your sex drive will come back, don't worry about that.

As soon as the hockey game is over, I'm going to go for a walk /jog.

I really want some chips, but I am afraid to go into a corner store for any reason. Lol...should have loaded up on snack food. Can't eat another carrot stick. Ever.

I'll be alright I think...that was a tough one, but I made it.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('gampy', '')$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('hubbertspeak7777777', 'I') only smoked one today. I've never smoked more than 10 in a day. I don't see the point in it.

You seem to be one of the lucky folks out there who can have a smoke here, there, and never really wind up addicted. Good for you.

If I could smoke just one or two a day I would. A pack and a half is what I smoked recently. I dunno why. But I need to give it up completely. I guess some folks can have just a couple beers, and leave it at that. Or a couple potato chips.

Cigarettes are one of the few things I can't get addicted too. Alcohol, twix bars, cola, self-gratification,etc... I'm addicted to or have been addicted to in the past, yet I can't seem to get addicted to cigarettes. I just enjoy them in moderation, they're relaxing.

I use to have Erectile dysfucntion problems, but when I started smoking, they went away. I think it's because it chases the stress away.

You havn't quit then.
Try not smoking next time you would have, you are more addicted than you think.
I knew a guy who quit a dozen times, said he could quit anytime he wanted to. LOL.

I never said that I could quit, I merely stated that I can control the amount I smoke. I'm never gonna quit. I don't care if the smoking kills me. I've smoked for 2 years and I've never had the desire to smoke more than 0.5pack/day. Smoking is one of the few things I enjoy in my life and if it kills me, then so be it... God forbid I actually have something I enjoy in my life. Let's all live to be 100 and not have a fun day in our entire lives! Let's eat broccoli and tofu, and drink water and run 5 miles day, etc. That sounds like fun... not.

Gampy, hang in there. Don't worry if you snack a bit more and gain a few pounds, you can lose them later. Most of the people I know who have quit smoking gained a bit of weight. Spring is coming (we're almost into March!), which means you can head out on your bike for long rides, or find a hiking buddy (one who doesn't smoke). Build on the number of things you do that are good for you; it's harder then to go back to a bad habit.

I commend you for being aware of the pain and decreased quality of life that comes with COPD. My dad has struggled with this daily for the last 10 years. In some ways, lung cancer would be kinder.

All the best, Gampy!

Day 7. One week. Woot. I made my goal. I guess I need to make it 2 weeks now. Decided to reward myself. Going to blow the money I saved this week (roughly 30-40 bucks CDN) on a nice dinner at the chi-chi little resto-bar down the road. Maybe a movie.

Urges continue, sometimes really intense. But I have managed to turn them into background noise, and they don't take up as much mental energy. I am guessing that's the trick here. Learn to ignore, or trivialize the urges.

It's funny. In the throes of withdrawal, I have cleaned my apartment so that you could do surgery off my kitchen floor. Re-arranged all the furniture and re-decorated. I don't know if I have more energy (probably-carbon monoxide out of bloodstream by now), but I seem to feel energetic. Albeit, a nervous energy. Haha.

Making a point to raise my heart rate every day for at least 20 minutes. Feeling pretty good about my future health. Fuck, why did I ever start smoking? That's what is really starting to bug me. The regrets. Are my lungs totally fucked, and beyond repair? Is my vascular system sclerotic, and full of sludge?

It scares me and makes me mad. At myself, at the tobacco companies, at my Mom for smoking around me as a kid. The whole fucking world, haha.

Think I am going to go for a physical in a few weeks and ask the doc
what my chances are of a somewhat healthy future, sans tobacco, and binge drinking.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('pstarr', 'T')hanks for doing this Gampy.
You are a one-man soap opera.
I can't wait to tune in every day.
It takes guts to quit.
Keep it up and I'll tune in later :)

Actually, it's useful in blowing off steam, and thinking out loud. Lol.

I bet there are some smokers here who are thinking "Shut the fuck up! I don't want to read that shit, man! Just quit already and shut the fuck up about it". Ha! I probably would have felt that way a month ago. Addiction is always a very personal thing. Drugs, booze, smokes, internet porn, whatever. Everyone has their level of addiction, and their "moment" of FUCK THIS. No More. Some just keep going and don't sweat it. I guess that's ok. Everyone is different, and free to do as they please. I read a diary of a junkie once, and found it fascinating at first, but ultimately rather dull. I always found addiction a rather shitty topic.

BORING.

I liked Trainspotting, though. Good film, and very innovative way to show what an intravenous heroin rush feels like. (I know from personal experience). When the guy sinks into the carpet, I was "fuck, I feel like a hit right about now." I was fortunate to only have dabbled in heroin, and moved on after a brief fling.

BTW Best...drug...ever.

-----------------------------

It helps me frame my thoughts, and behaviors, by writing them down, and looking at them a day later. No wonder blogs are so fucking popular (myself...I think they are a scourge, taking up useful bandwidth away from porn).

If it provides some entertainment, or even some ideas for others looking to quit, it's all good. The replies and comments truly help. Even the pessimistic ones, hehe.

Whew...all that jibber jabber made me feel good. Thanks.

my mom, but he doesn't know much english and I think has only 1 online account (e-mail)... and my uncle, which is even less tech-savy (does not own computer).

I only smoked once, but it was a "flavored exotic type" of smoking...

Nothing wrong with a little backsliding. Enjoy a cigarette or two. Just get back on track and be kind to yourself.

This is the critical juncture right here.

It's the fourth quarter and after leading the whole game the other team has just opened up a 7 point lead on you.

What are you gonna do?

Take several deep breaths when you start to freak out. Remain calm. Don't give up.

I smoked between 40 and 60 a day for, I guess, around 20 years but 4 years I just thought, this is fucking stupid. I'm paying some shitty multinational a fortune for the pleasure of doing something which I don't actually enjoy and which is also going to kill me. I used patches, (double doses for the first couple of weeks) and also dosed myself up on pretty hefty quantities of valium for the first few days. I also banned myself from the pub for 3 months (harsh) but it worked and I haven't smoked since. Keep at it though. There's no escaping the fact that giving up is not fun but it's certainly worth it in the end. Just the financial side alone make it worthwhile - I've got to be at least £4000 a year better off.

Ha! Thanks for the pep talk.

Just had the one smoke I bummed. Didn't buy a pack. Not going to sweat it too much. Even after having that cigarette earlier today, the urges have not increased or anything.

"Still in the game."

Lol...I like that. Thank you, my new fuckin' slogan.

It was a funny situation. I was at the bus stop, and this cute guy just lit up beside me. Maybe it was more about making small talk than indulging my nicotine urge. I only smoked about half of it, didn't taste all that good.

Fuck. Getting an urge to smoke now, talking about this. Definitely need to deal with the oral fixation, and keeping my hands busy.

"Still in the game"...hehehe
