The US markets will barely shudder. That's how it always seems to go. The more logical it seems that they will tank, the more likely they are to just dawdle around with a ~50 point loss or something. I am so sick of waiting for people to come to their senses. :(

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('deeciduous', '')$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('jboogy', 'I') caught Cramer on CNBC talking about all the insurers going belly up, scary stuff. I watched the news tonight to see if anyone was talking about the other markets tanking and not nary a peep, but I don't subscribe to fox news or msnbc so maybe they said something, anderson cooper was all presidential candidates, ( big surprise ), local news zippo. Link TV had english language German news program " journal " and the markets were the top, big story. Nothin' in this country though, is this a great country or what?

Is it possible the mercan newsmedia are really idiots?

If murdoch runs them all and he owns a lot of stock maybe he doesn't want a lot of people selling stock tomorrow...

Whatever, you can't cover up a sulphurous piffle too long.

Well here the stock market has been tanking for about the past week and a bit. They had something on the current affairs program about it.

I haven't watched it, but I know exactly what they will have said "now is an excellent buying opportunity!"

Generally only the lowest common denominator watches these programs, so it's perfect fodder for those "professionals" seeking to bail out. They do this so they get a decent price for their stock, and then let the rest deal with the fireworks...

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('mmasters', 'T')he fed better have some emergency rate cut at market open.

They cut 0.75 apparently... will it be enough? I think the DOW will open way below 12000 and lose about 500 points today.

The Dow is currently down about 150 points , or about 1.3%.

Not a good day, but so far not too bad considering the magnitude of the two days of big sell-offs that just happened in Asia and Europe. :)

I shorted the market big time with my UpDown fantasy stock market account.

I've lost more than 5% in one day.

Anyone who shorted at the open (real $) will be sweating bullets today! Those guys typically hate leaving a position open overnight, should be lots of buying at the end of the day.

What I see : I have everything I want in terms of modern comfort, no air conditioner, no car, - no intention to get them. But the rest I have, a computer, phone, clothes, stuff.

I do not need anything else, so I buy very little, almost nothing, mostly food, that is why this system will go down, people do not really need what is produced, and they keep producing stuff in huge quantities, maybe they hope people will change their old stuff, or maybe new people will buy ?, it's a stupid money system

This bounce we are seeing here is complete nonsense. Factor in the raging inflation that this 3/4% cut is going to cause and the DOW is tanking right now. This is all bullshit, smoke and mirrors.

Bush is working damn hard right now not to keep the economy going down the tubes on his watch. I feel for the next president. He/she will have hell to pay and possibly a depression to manage due to the moves being played out right now.
