Hope no one's getting too attached to living on "The Palm", what with rising sea level & all.

I've heard about the island projects before. They get paid to put all the richest people on an island made of sand, which they'll lose due to sea level rise and or tsunami. Sounds like they're doing a real service!

They also build dikes/coastal defences so depending on fast the sealevels will rise and if there's any money left to spare to spend on coastal defences it might not be a bad company to invest in.

Yeah, I suppose so. Almost sounds like a set-up, doesn't it? "Here, we've built you a house in this fire-trap canyon. Did we mention that we have a private insurance company? And a private fire fighter company?" And in this vase, they don't even need an arsonist on the payroll...

well, it's indeed no use trying to build flood defenses around those artificial islands. Those and all those capital villa's that are being built on them are going to go to Davy Jones' locker within about 50 years, blub blub blub. What I was trying to say is that this company does have a lot of useful expertise as opposed to creating fantasy archipelago's for the super rich in Dubai; They do a lot of essential work on the Dutch flood defenses and port system....

it's a private company effectively held by three companies - MerweOord, NMP Capital and Royal BAM group. Maybe you can invest with those other companies and get into the action. I don't see any info about them going public anytime soon so don't hold your breath.

It would be a nice investment however. In their financial lists they made 89 million euro's profit in 2006
That was good for a 23.1% return on shareholder equity. They also paid 45 million euro's in dividends.
shame on us, doomed from the start
god have mercy on our dirty little hearts
