I'm not going to deny that 90% of Americans are clueless. But, editing has a part to do with it. My father ran into one of the Rick Mercer "Talking with Americans" bits. Being somewhat of a Canuckophile and generally aware, he knew everything and spoiled his punchline. Dad asked the producer, "gonna use any of that". "Of course not". I assume they found the dolt they were looking for down the line.
