Tell me, Bas...is Europe ready for all this? Here in Texas, we most certainly are not.
Ready? Not really, no. Though Europe has some things going for it vs the US like high gastaxes, mass transit and a high Euro, but these are not results of a coordinated PO aware effort. They do however buy Europe some time in which to make such an effort, so I guess I'm relatively less pesimistic than I am for the US; other than that, going at it alone with guns and permaculture is much harder here than in the US; land is expensive and almost always near population centres and guns are illigal, so I don't really have a choice but to hope for and support government authority, though that authority should be legitimate ofcourse. I'm pretty sure we'll at least see a "period" of hoarding, riots etc when it will
seem the whole state will go down, but I'm pretty sure it won't; people here do have a sense like I do that we're all doomed without the state, so the government will be allowed and expected to restore order. Oh yeah, and we hardly have any guns here, so that shouldn't be too difficult in this little country. These are only some things I contemplate and think about, there are lots more things to take into account, too many really, so I revert back to what I usually say: you can speculate all you want but with so many variables you can't predict the future, not in the short term, nor in the long term.
