$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('Eli', 'Y')es Bas you really don't want that stuff to take hold. Actually in my state you can only buy Pseudophed in small amounts and the Pharmacists keeps it behind the counter.
I think it is worse than crack for a couple of reasons. One it can be easily made with relatively common ingredients, most places don't just have coca leaves laying around. The other thing is that the high can last for days.
I have known a few people who have been on it and it really cooks their brains. Their personality changes dramatically and you can tell they are just not there any more.
It seems there has been quite a political fight around pseudophedrine and it's now more of a controlled substance, other countries, most notably Mexico are taking similar steps to control it, so that seems like a good development, though apparently it took far longer for that to happen than needed because of resistance of cold medicine producers...
We do seem to have quite a lot of "normal" amphetamine and xtc on the streets here, and I know of plenty people who used that from a couple of times to longer periods of time but they all seem to have turned out relatively ok; meth, and also crack seems to be of a different magnitude of addictiveness and toxcidity.
Anyway, it's sad to hear that so many people here have first hand experience with addiction to this drug; I guess that after watching the documentary it still felt as a far away thing for me, expecting maybe only a couple first hand accounts from people here. I guess it really is an epidemic.
