That is not correct.
My doctor calls it feel good candy. Low dosages a few times a week - no problem.
Well then again,,,,,,,,,,,,if you need between 3 to 6 pills a day to get by on for a couple of Months, you might as well be drinking the hard stuff. Rebound effect!
Now Xanax, stay away from that nasty stuff.
$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', 'A')tivan (lorazepam). The fastest-acting of the bunch, and for even faster response you can put a tablet under your tongue. Ativan has practically no additional reported side effects, other than the usual temporary stuff you get from any medication (e.g. headaches, dizziness, tummy troubles). Just some liver and kidney problems, agitation and skin problems. That's it. Nothing freaky. Sorry. Plus of all the benzos it's the least likely to be abused and the easiest to discontinue. Dosage: For anxiety 2-3 mg a day, divided over two or three doses. For insomnia 2-4 mg taken at bedtime. The usual maintenance dosage is 2-6 mg a day, although it can vary from 1-10 mg a day, taken between two and four times a day. Ativan has a half-life of 16 hours. Wyeth-Ayerst.
$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', '
')Xanax (alprazolam). Xanax is the most potent and known as being the most addictive of all the benzos, so use with caution if there's any chance you need to take this med daily or have the slightest hint of substance abuse. With all other benzos you can withdrawal using another benzo. Not Xanax. With Xanax you can discontinue only with Xanax, no other benzo will do. Xanax also has the worst side effect profile of the benzos, it could mess with your sleep, mess with your hormones, mess with your weight and just mess with you in general like a regular anticonvulsant and not side effect-free benzo. But none of the rare side effects, what few there are, is particularly freaky. The dosage depends on the ailment, and can range from 0.25 to 10mg a day, although 4-6mg a day is the usual effective dose for most people tolerate Xanax as a daily med for a panic/anxiety disorder. Given how potent Xanax is and how it actually has side effects, that 0.25mg to start and going from there seems like the best bet. Also comes in an XR formulation, similar, one presumes, to Tranxene's once-a-day tablet. Unless it's just some patent protection maneuver. We really don't know. Xanax's half-life is 11 hours. Pfizer.
