$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('PenultimateManStanding', 'W')ell it certainly wouldn't be the time for on the job training. And jboogy, don't rural folks have lots of trucks? They're pretty spread out in the hinterland, big distances and all.
It depends upon the rural area. With a mile diameter I have dozens of neighbors and now I know as many as I don't (three years living here). Just because we are not packed into suburbs does not mean that there are not neighbors. A lot of the folks garden, two have bee hives, I and another have chickens. Most have outbuildings in various states of use/disrepair.
We could convert quicker to a more sustainable lifestyle. We are armed and most would die with guns ablazing. The problem with the roaming hoards line of thought is not that it will not happen, but that the hoards get smaller with each assult. If it turns to winter up here they more or less die out unless they hole up and then they are susceptible to "counter attack by people who know the land people who might block them in and then just burn the place down...
anyway I forget what my point was. Oh yeah, rural area... could become sustainable... still got neighbors... three of them could hear a shout. Lots could hear a shotgun blast... esp in the summer when windows are open.
