If anything convinces me of the power of the oil industry it's that OisM can have one new user banned, then reply to himself with a new one in a couple of hours. Is this something your bread-and-butter hacker can pull off? Or does it involve the equivalent of opening a new cable ISP? Like, $80 a pop? Just to provide a dissenting voice on a forum?

Or am I reading too much into this?

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('Ludi', 'P')alm oil exists in many products. It is a very common ingredient.

Of course....and I'm sure the US imports some in cosmetics and other such items, but this topic is about the potential use of genetically engineered plants to produce biofuel and replace petroleum after Peak Oil.

Europe and Asia are importing diesel made from Palm tree oil now. In contrast, the US doesn't import any Palm Oil diesel now. Some people seem to think George Bush is god and everything that happens is caused by something Bush said or did, but blaming Bush because Europe and Asia are importing Palm Oil diesel fuel and the planatations in Malaysia and eleswhere are rapidly expanding to meet the growing demand
doesn't make any sense.

Gene engineering....the new GE.

I'd like a photovoltaic lawn.

And, on the back lot, a small forest that continuously drips tree oil into collecting pipes. 8)

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('PeakHoax', 'O')n the global warming hoax:

Jesus, Oily, you are one persistant little weasel, aren't you?

What, is spamming this forum with horse manure a personal crusade, or are you actually being paid to do this?

Freeman Dyson... How's the universe today Dr. Dyson?
Well, we have runaway greenhouse happening right now on our little planet mixed with a Peak in oil production last July that will severely limit our ability to function as a "modern" society. Of course being a Homo Sapien on this planet and never having actually left our immediate airspace and basing all of my observations on sight and sound with a healthy dose of religion thrown in I guess I am as qualified as Dr. Phil is on the subject of Teen Pregnancy. It's not that I don't want a solution... I do.. I just don't see trees and coconuts saving the day for us... Fuck, even the professor had a hard time making that damn coconut radio work on Gilligans Island. And one more thing... GMO is NOT the way to go.... please stop fucking with mom and her Millions of years of progress... just to make your Yukon Denali chug its way over to Wal-Mart.

Nope. I'll be driving a Prius to Whole Earth Foods. You'll be driving the Yukon Denali to Wal-mart. :P

Freeman Dyson, Fellow of the Royal Society

Dyson's ideas are too complicated to fit in a 60-second YouTube commercial.... but he has written a new book for a general audience. 8)
