Revolting Burmese Monks

What's on your mind?
General interest discussions, not necessarily related to depletion.

What is your reaction to the crushed rebellion?

This is tragic. Peaceful, nonviolent people have been hurt and killed.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('PenultimateManStanding', 'O')h, I've got to do some more of this, it's just too fun:

Can't cut no slack when you're on track
The game is on and Jack is back
Monks are toast, meat on the rack
I hope my views don't catch much flack
So many words that end in 'ack'.
Perhaps we bring this back to Jack.

The words are many and never lack. It's time for me to have a snack. I'll see you later and I'll be back.

Jack lacks slack, f**k Jack I'm knacked... & off to bed (do you realise how late it is here in Europe??)

Good fun though - excellent rhymes - catch you round PMS!

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('JPL', 'O')h yea, and also couple of quotes from Mahatma Gandhi that might prove relevent (grin):

"When I despair, I remember that all through history the way of truth and love has always won. There have been tyrants and murderers and for a time they seem invincible, but in the end, they always fall — think of it, always."

"An eye for an eye makes the whole world blind."

We have passed the point of no return, we can no longer go back to peace and safety. The song is reaching its climax, I would advise you to cover your ears for the finale.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('zensui', '
')I'm glad I live in a country where I don't have to fear the (non-existant) army of my own country (that goes for USA too).

In three years you will never say that again.

This is what the Germans thought When they gave Herr H full authority and voted out their constitution.

You know what they called it?

The German Homeland Patriot Act.

No bull, buckwheat.

My grandpa was there, My dad was there, everything was suddenly taken from them, and everyone had to join the nmilitary or die. If you had blond hair and blue eyes you went into the SS - Their collars hats and pins were skull and bones.

There is nothing new under the sun, my grandpa said to me years ago, he said, _, You are going to live it again, you think you are safe here but you are never safe from this _____, they will eventually win. Next time they will make no mistakes.(implication - same movement).

Ditto, JPL. Love and light always win, in the end. YOu can let your life contract to a dark dot, or you can be radiant. It's an energy issue. Truly.

+1
Stop filling dumpsters, as much as you possibly can, and everything will get better.

Just think it through.
It's not hard to do.

No, not while I have my (big, hobnailed) neo-leftie boot stuck across the conductor's neck, it doesn't.

There are a lot of questions that need answering right now and the first of one of which is, why, if America has fucked up so badly, does it feel it has to take rest of the world down with it?

I would love to hear your answers right-now (grin). And so would the rest of the world as well...

Because the current crop of Americans has been conditioned to happy endings for the last sixty years and therefore they can't cope with the thought of not being on top.

Aye, wise words MD, but that doesn't solve the problem for the rest of us. 'Doom' just looks a bit 'Hollywood' for us out here (we've had 60 years of THAT as well...)

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('kadoomsoon', 'T')here is nothing new under the sun. My grandpa said, as he looke into my eyes before he died, he said,

I don't think you and I are too far apart (grin).

My Grandfather fought against the Jerries in WW2 and also against the Japs in Burma. He never talked about it much, but I remember once he showed me some of his Burma campaign stuff and said, if this ever happens again, you have to realise, that I won't be around to protect you. You will have to fight it yourself. And I remember he looked at me with his old eyes and said, "Don't be as foolish as we were. Don't make the same mistakes. Don't let it get hold of people the same way that we did. If you can stop it before it ever starts again, that will be the best war you can ever fight."

I suspect matters are too far along to interdict that which comes.

I've seen quite a lot of the transition. I remember getting on an airplane - all it took was a paper ticket. No baggage checks, no metal detectors, no TSA.

I remember schools with no metal detectors or security guards.

And a host of other things.

Given the trend, does anyone really believe it will change as fear and privation increase? The events to come will be fertile soil for a variety of extreme approaches. And neither you, nor I, nor anyone else can change it.

By the way...google the term: bonus marchers

Now ask what happens when things get nasty in a few years.

Not much. But given the trends, given what we expect, what do you suppose a similar event might be like in future?

Yea, it's gonna suck (grin).

But however bad it sucks in my egalitarian, communist, anarcho-sindy-wassiname people's state, it ain't gonna be half as bad as yours will be when we get our missiles off first.

Just thought I'd say that (grin).
