My wife doesn't see a problem with this story, but then she grew up in the former Soviet Union. I guess it reminds her of home.

Stupid people kill themselves all the time doing even more mundane things. She lost it, and in doing so killed herself.

Dumb, but believable. Uncontrolled Panic never has a good outcome.

Bullets are becoming too valuable. They will use a spring loaded re-usable metal spike gun to the head.

Sort of like a larger ear piercing gun for the brain stem.

I'm having a difficult time envisioning that one myself.
Stop filling dumpsters, as much as you possibly can, and everything will get better.

Also, along the same lines, I am a little concerned about posting my thoughts, as I know that the US government has computers that monitor email and phone traffic. Occasionally I travel to the US and I am concerned I will get on some list, kind of like Santa's naught or nice list.

According to the article, there was a chain linking the cuffs to the wall or something. She tried to move the cuffs from her back to her front, then fell and got caught in the chain.

It sounds bizzare, but if she was in there alone it must have happened.

Every time I travel to the US, I get pulled aside and searched. This happens at the airport or crossing by land. I don't think I am on a list, but you never know.

Last time I entered the US by land. I was a little concerned about the trip, I had a long drive and I had to meet someone at a specific time and place. I woke up early because I wasn't sleeping well so I just left a little early. I get to the bridge (border). I have already had a few coffee's, not a good sleep, a little jittery. I have to pee but I plan to cross first then pee in the US. I drive onto the bridge, across the top, and traffic stops. The bridge is vibrating in the wind. I have to pee. I get to the officer and he informs me that I have been randomly selected for a search (surprise, surprise). Pull over there.

Everything went well, they let me pee, searched the vehicle, and sent me on my way, but I can see how it could have gone very different. I was very careful to be extra polite. Every sentence was "yes sir, no sir"

Lets face it the people we hire to protect us are the same people that were recruited for the SS. The only difference is how they are trained or indoctrinated.

I talked to a neighbor who is in law enforcement. He is a guard/deputy at a local courthouse. I ran this one across him and he says you would be amazed at what folks who are hysterical can do to themselves in these situations. They take precautions against just such things, but the bottom line is it is likely she offed herself due to panic. Jumping to conclusions that the folks who detained her are Nazi SS types is just ludicrous and conspiratorial..

I always am extra polite and it sems to always go well for me too. I think we have to remember that these customs officers are often getting sarcastic answers back and the like, to say nothing about outright lies. So, being courteous to them is the way to go.
