Just a quick question for everyone. When you think of the police, do you feel a rush of reassurance these days that an upholder of the law is present to keep the peace? Or do you feel fear and make sure that you're not accidently doing anything that might irritate them?

I have friends in the force who are absolutely everything they should be. But for the most part these days, I consider the police a force to control the public, keep them in fear, and not as someone I would want watching my back.

Just a sign of the times of course, but it saddens me.

Shit man , it's pretty obvious what happened , cop had been itching to shoot someone and this was his opportunity . His order for the suspect to rise was his excuse for shooting in case of witnesses . " Uh , I told the perp to stay down and he suddenly lunged up at me, I felt he was making an aggressive move towards me so I used necessary force to defend myself , I did not tell the suspect to get up , I told him NOT to get up , the witness must not have heard correctly." - Too bad for officer Piggly-Wiggly the audio clearly reveals his order for the perp to get up. Still , the deck is stacked so far in favor of the police getting away with this sort of thing that I'll be surprised if the cop does more than 6 months on paid leave.

Firstly no cop should ever call the suspect a "Perp." The suspect is innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. I hate these "Judge Dread" types who think they are the law when they are nothing but lying pigs.
