I'm asking this as I'm eating a can of it. Corned Beef Hash. Is there Rice Beef Hash? Wheat Beef Hash?

Corned salt (salt with seed size lumps) is used to cure the beef in Corned Beef, not the vegetable.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('Shannymara', 'I') think it's beef soaked in brine for a long time. I don't like it, even though I like salty things in general. [smilie=icon_puke_r.gif]

The beef is pickled. It is best served with steemed cabbage.

Mashed salted beef in a can.

It keeps a while, so it was the MRE before MREs.

Brisket cured in (as stated before) large grains of salt. I love it. Now what your eating out of the can is not really corned beef in a traditional sense.

I used to eat Mary's Kitchen corned beef hash but Hormel took it over and now it tastes like crap.

To make the canned corn beef hash taste better add some chopped onions and celery with black pepper and simmer for a while... dude if your eating it straight out of the can I'll say a prayer for you tonight.

Just my thoughts....

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('pstarr', 'T')he corn does not refer to the ingredient, it refers to the attitude of the person eating the hash. Corned Beef Hash is for cornucopians who believe the meat portion of the dish is not cat.

Post of the year, hands down. Award him the trophy.

that's what I'm doing, but don't worry, I'm washing it down with bourbon. The bugs haven't got a chance.

I heard you would be washing down ramen noodles with the bourbon!

PS I hope you're occasionally having some fruit and vegetables, as well.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('pstarr', 'H')ey! Does anyone want to hear about menudo?

No.

Please, for God's sake, don't go there.

I knew you would say something like that, but I posted anyway. I was compelled because I have strong feelings about corned beef.

Well, if you have bourbon then no prayer for you. The reason I said that was because at one point in my life priced cat food to canned corn beef hash and found that corned beef hash was cheaper... just something to think about. :)

Oh, and my cats love the hash. It's the only thing besides chicken they will eat... but if you cook it... nope.. :) How's the RE market out there PMS?

Just got back from walmart with a pound and a half of it , not the best quality but decent enough , I eat it by the slice with a squirt of dijon and a bite of dill pickle . I'll go thru all of it in 2 days.
