A while back I read a story by somebody who was one of 14 children. He said it sucked. Virtually all the kids felt neglected. They hardly knew their beleagured parents. His mother struggled just to keep the names straight.

Life in that family was a microcosm of an overpopulated third-world country as resources were stretched thin. He was envious of kids who were members of normal families. He wished he was an only child.

My only-child daughter (first marriage) has a good friend who was one of seven kids. She said virtually the same thing. She envied the time my ex and I had to spend with our daughter.

Where did any of us say that it is OK for Muslims to have 17 children?
Simple fact: there are too many people in the world, whether Muslim or Western.

Encouraging Westerners to have more babies in order to keep up with the Muslims is suicidal.
