$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('KevO', 'a') positive outlook? The Upside of Down will you buy it?
It's more of the same: "Everything is going to blow up and collpase, total chaos, finanical collapses, terrorism, super plagues, etc . . but the good news is there will still be a happy ending!!!"

It seems we as a culture are pathologically addicted to happy endings. So if you're going to publish an uber-doom book like this, it still has to have a happy ending, no matter the amout of mental gymnastics it takes to produce it.

I'm surprised these people don't compare Hiroshima and Nagasaki to a forest fire. "Sure there was a nuclear apocalypse in Asia but, much like a forest fire, it got rid of the old so the new could grow!"

Warning: my copy was misprinted - many sneaky blank pages - so I have to get the shop to re-order it. A bit of an annoyance.

I checked it out at our library. I just got it today. We'll see.

I just watched the recent Tom Cruise/Steven Spielberg "War of the Worlds" this week. Great movie! Until the end. The aliens slaughter people left and right (I won't go into details for people who haven't caught it yet.) We're talking total destruction just about as far as the eye can see. At the end, somehow, miraculously, Tom Cruise and daughter make it to Boston, to find that certain places look totally unscathed. Makes for a ridiculously happy ending.

I wrote a quick blurb for this in the Book/Media Reviews section. Didn't have much to say, I thought it was a good tome though.

Thought it amusing that the non-US editions had all or part of the title showing upside down (appropriately enough), while the dunderheads in the US presumably would be confused by this.

Enjoyed War of the Worlds, too. Good DP. Have we reached the stage where we can abbreviate Doomer Porn?

One day there will be so many houses, that people will be bored and will go live in tents. "Why are you living in tents ? Are there not enough homes ?" "Yes there are, but we play this Economy game". Now it's "Crisis" time !Too many houses! Yes, we are insane!

But DP already is an abbreviation for 'Double Penetration' which I think applies to Global Warming and Peak Oil coming together all over us.
