But seriously, most rap is about dominating, taking advantage of, harming or killing people. Music for people driven insane by being poor in a rich nation... What kind of wholesome family music is it? "Tha Blue Carpet Treatment" an album by Snoop Dogg, the title refers to Blue (Crips gangs) and Snoop Dogg was explaining the title further one time saying it is a Crip term for beating someone to death. Real nice.

Rap is not a good influence on culture, though I also think it is a reflection of attitudes held by gangs and poor individuals looking for some kind of power and control in life. And discussing how they often behave towards each other in real life.

Rap is a style, not a political position. A rap song can be made out of anything, like how the vandals stole the handle, happenings out on Highway 61, or about an old Hot Rod Lincoln. Does anyone remember Rapper's Delight? Props to Kaopectate! Yes, part of it was about bad cooking, and we used to practice it while waiting at the bus stop (the rap, not the bad cooking!)

A lot of rap has been made about violence, but then look at all the "metal" music that was made at the same time. And what about that song about "hey sister shotgun" and a "white wedding", what's that shit all about?
